Save over $1,000 with a free award night at Ritz-Carlton hotels in popular Asian destinations like Tokyo, Beijing, and Jakarta, with Chase Ultimate Rewards points!
The sign-up bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred card is currently 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after completing the minimum spending requirements. And you can transfer those points directly to Ritz-Carlton to splurge on a night in a luxurious hotel.
I’ll show you 5 top hotels in Asia to book with Ritz-Carlton points!
5 Luxurious Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Asia for Award Stays
- Points Advance – Book an award stay before you have the points, as long as you earn (or buy) the points to cover the full cost 14 days before check-in.
- Points Sharing – Share your Ritz-Carlton points with ANY Ritz-Carlton or Marriott member (up to 50,000 points per year). Once per year you can go over the 50,000 point limit right before a specific redemption, only up to the amount needed for a specific stay, rounded to the nearest 1,000 points.
- Elite Credit for Award Nights – Redeem points for award nights and you’ll stay credits towards Ritz-Carlton elite status
- Cash + Points – Use a combination of points and cash to book each night of your stay
And, you’ll get the 5th night free on any award stay!
I like using Hotel Hustle to find hotels for award stays because it shows how many points you’ll need for your specific travel dates. And it’ll show you if award nights are actually available.
Another option is AwardMapper. It shows similar information. But it’s not specific to travel dates and won’t search for available award rooms.
I haven’t stayed at these hotels myself, but they look outstanding!
Note: The prices in these examples are based on travel in April 2016.
I’d rather transfer my Chase Ultimate Rewards points to United Airlines for international travel. Or use Chase Ultimate Rewards points to stay at Hyatt hotels. I’ve gotten terrific deals using points that way, but your best use of Chase Ultimate Rewards points could be completely different!
Note: Some Ritz-Carlton hotels (especially resorts) add pricey resort fees to paid and award nights. Before you book, check the hotel policy to decide if it’s worth it for you.
1. The Ritz-Carlton, Beijing
The Ritz-Carlton, Beijing is an excellent jumping-off point for exploring the cultural and architectural history of the city. You’ll even be welcomed with a tea ceremony upon arrival!
The hotel is located in the Chaoyang District, near well-known Sanlitun Bar Street, which is lined with shops, restaurants, and of course, bars!
Rates start at ~$443 or 30,000 Ritz-Carlton points per night. Folks on TripAdvisor have wonderful things to say about the location and service!
You’ll have easy access to the Beijing metro so you can visit The Forbidden City, Summer Palace, or Temple of Heaven to see gorgeous Chinese architecture and learn about the history.
The Great Wall is ~90 minutes away, and Beijing makes a great base for seeing it during a day trip.
Remember, you’ll earn at least 4,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points from meeting the minimum spending requirements. And you can earn 5,000 more Chase Ultimate Rewards points if you add an authorized user who makes a purchase within the 1st 3 months.
That adds up to 59,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points, which is almost enough for 2 nights here worth close to $900!
2. The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto
The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto is located along the Kamogawa River with views of the Higashiyama Mountains. If you want to explore the heart of Japanese culture, Kyoto is a fantastic city to visit.
It’s known as “The City With 10,000 Shrines,” and there are numerous temples, palaces, and gardens to explore – including 17 UNESCO world heritage sites in Kyoto alone.
Be sure to read the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor!
When I checked, nights here cost ~$1,266, or 60,000 Ritz-Carlton points.
If you visit in the spring, you have the chance to see Japanese cherry blossoms in full bloom. Fall is beautiful too, thanks to the changing colors of the trees on the mountaintops in the area.
Explore Kyoto, and save over $1,000 at the same time!
3. The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan
The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan is located in the business district of Jakarta, Indonesia. Any time is a good time to visit, thanks to warm weather year-round!
Jakarta is on the island of Java, so there’s lots of home-grown coffee and tea for you to try. And, because Indonesia grows lots of the world’s spices, you can expect nearly anything you order to be extra flavorful. I love spicy food, so that sounds like heaven to me!
Nights here cost ~$299 or 30,000 Ritz-Carlton points.
4. The Ritz-Carlton, Macau
The Ritz-Carlton, Macau is located in vibrant Macau, China, which is quickly becoming 1 of the most popular destinations in the country. The city has so many casinos, it’s known as the “Las Vegas of Asia!”
This hotel costs ~$725 or 50,000 Ritz-Carlton points per night, and every room is a suite! It’s located within the “Galaxy” complex, so you’ll be surrounded with tons of entertainment and dining options, including Vegas-style shows!
Keep in mind there’s a ferry between Macau and Hong Kong, so you can visit 2 cities in 1 trip if you plan it right!
5. The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo
The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo is located in the Roppongi neighborhood, so you’ll be surrounded with places to eat and nightlife options popular with both tourists and locals. Plus, Tokyo is an excellent base for seeing more of Japan by high-speed bullet train!
Nights here cost ~$1,242, or 70,000 Ritz-Carlton points, because it’s a Tier 5 hotel.
Remember you’ll earn 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on travel and dining, which will help you earn the points you’ll need for a night here.
And get ready for amazing views of the city! The hotel is located on the top 9 floors of Midtown Tower, the tallest building in Tokyo.
Have a drink in the Sky Lobby and get your Instagram ready for gorgeous sunset photos! 🙂

You could also pick up the Chase Ritz-Carlton Rewards card. You’ll earn 2 free nights at any Tier 1 to 4 Ritz-Carlton hotel, after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the 1st 3 months of opening your account.
The $395 annual fee is NOT waived, but it comes with perks and benefits that can easily make up for it, like a $300 annual travel credit for seat upgrades, airline fees, or other travel incidentals.
It’s a card worth getting, especially if you like Ritz-Carlton hotels. Here’s my review.
