I’ve written about WOW Air, a budget airline based in Iceland.  They’re a great option for no-frills flights, with good service and clean planes.

You can fly from Boston or Washington, DC (Baltimore) to Reykjavik, Iceland, starting at $99 1-way.  Return flights start at $169, which is still very cheap for a flight from Europe!

You can also fly to Bristol, London, or Paris (connecting through Reykjavik) starting at $149 1-way from Boston or Washington, DC (Baltimore).

London Calling? Fly From Boston or Washington, DC (Baltimore) for $149 1-Way on WOW Air!

Travel dates for most destinations are January to March 2016.  Sale fares to Bristol are May or September 2016.

You can fly from Boston to Reykjavik until mid-April 2016.  And from Washington, DC (Baltimore), to Reykjavik through mid-March 2016.

Sale fares are only available on certain flights, or on certain days of the week.  So you might have to be flexible.  That said, I was able to find lots of seats on the sale routes!

You might consider taking advantage of these cheap fares flying TO Europe, then book an award ticket for your return trip!

Remember, WOW Air charges fees for seat selection, large carry-on bags, and checked bags.  You’ll get the best deal if you can pack light.

Where to Stay?

There aren’t many chain hotels in Iceland.  Only Best Western, Club Carlson, and Hilton have hotels in Reykjavik (although there are lots of independent hotels).

If you have the Citi Prestige card, it might be worth checking for hotel rooms available with the 4th night free perk.

If you’re traveling beyond Reykjavik, you’ll have more hotel choices.  Check out my favorite Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, and Starwood hotels in Europe!

I like using Hotel Hustle (which even shows you if rooms are available!) or AwardMapper to find hotels for award stays.

Note:  If you’re booking a paid stay, it’s worth checking discount sites like Orbitz, Expedia, or TravelPony for deals.  Keep in mind, you won’t get stay credits or points (and might not have your elite status recognized).

If you prefer a more local experience, Airbnb is a great way to save money, especially for longer stays.  Here are my tips for getting a better Airbnb price and how to choose a safe and comfortable Airbnb.

Bottom Line

WOW Air has a great fare sale from from Boston and Washington, DC (Baltimore), to Reykjavik, Iceland, for $99 1-way.

Or connect in Reykjavik to Bristol, London, or Paris starting at $149 1-way.  Return flights cost more, but you can still find good deals.

This is a bargain if you can pack light (because WOW Air charges substantial baggage fees).  I flew WOW Air on my trip to Iceland and had a good experience!

Book soon if you’re interested, because these fares won’t last long.  Let me know if you plan a trip!
