What’s the Deal?

Link:   Wyndham Rewards Award Program Changes

Earlier this year, Wyndham announced major changes to their award program.  All Wyndham hotel award nights cost 15,000 points per night.

That’s terrific news for folks who redeem Wyndham points at expensive locations, including their top hotels and all-inclusive resorts!

And now, via US Credit Card Guide, you can earn up to 45,000 Wyndham points on the premium version of the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards.  Or 18,000 Wyndham points on the no-annual-fee version of the card.

Use Your Points for a Vacation at the All-Inclusive Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach in The Bahamas. Rooms Are ~$267 a Night!
The better offer is the premium version of the card with a $69 annual fee.

That’s because you can use your points on a 3-night hotel stay that would cost ~$800 to over ~$1,000!

For example, 3 nights at the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach on Grand Bahama Island cost ~$801 in February 2016.  Or, you can use 45,000 Wyndham points instead!  And, this hotel is all-inclusive, so your meals, snacks, drinks, and entertainment are all included!

Wyndham hotels include:

Let’s look at what you’ll earn with the new Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards cards!

Note:   Before you consider either card, remember that Barclaycard typically only approves folks for 1 to 2 cards per year.  But you can call to ask them to reconsider your application if you are denied.

Keep in mind the bonus points will post to your account on your billing statement following when you meet the minimum spending requirements.

And because these are both Visa Signature cards, you’ll be eligible for Visa discounts and a 6-month membership to CLEAR.

But, both cards have a 3% foreign transaction fee, so they’re NOT good cards to take abroad.

1.   Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards With Annual Fee

You’ll earn 30,000 Wyndham points after your 1st purchase.  And another 15,000 Wyndham points after spending $1,000 on purchases within the 1st 90 days of account opening.

So you’ll earn 45,000 Wyndham points (worth 3 nights at any Wyndham hotel) after meeting minimum spending requirements with the premium version of the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards card.

You’ll also get:

  • 6,000 Wyndham points on your account anniversary each year
  • 5X Wyndham points per $1 you spend at Wyndham hotels
  • 2X Wyndham points points per $1 you spend everywhere else

The $69 annual fee is NOT waived for the 1st year.  But, it’s worth it!

3 Nights at the Wyndham Koloa Landing at Poipu Beach Would Cost ~$1,173

That’s because you can get amazing value from the 45,000 point sign-up bonus if you book stays at expensive resorts or in pricey locations.

For example, the Wyndham Koloa Landing at Poipu Beach costs ~$1,173 for a 3-night stay in February 2016.  But you can book it with 45,000 Wyndham points instead of cash!

2.  Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards With NO Annual Fee

With the no-annual-fee version of the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards card you can earn 18,000 Wyndham points (worth 1 nights at any Wyndham hotel) after meeting minimum spending requirements.

But there’s NO anniversary bonus.

With this card, you’ll get:

  • 15,000 Wyndham points after your 1st purchase, plus 3,000 Wyndham points after you spend $1,000 on purchases the 1st 90 days of opening your account (18,000 points total)
  • 3X Wyndham points per $1 you spend at Wyndham hotels
  • 2X Wyndham points points per $1 you spend on everything else
  • NO annual fee

This is a good deal for a no-annual-fee card.  But for the same amount of minimum spending, I’d rather pay the $69 fee and earn more free award nights!

Are Wyndham Award Nights Hard to Redeem?

There are NO blackout dates for redeeming award rooms.  As long as there is a standard room available, you can book an award night.

Bottom Line

The Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards cards are back with new sign-up bonuses!  You could earn enough points for 3 free nights at any Wyndham hotel from 1 card after meeting minimum spending requirements!

Some top Wyndham hotels cost $300+ per night or more.  So this can be an excellent deal for folks who can use Wyndham points at their expensive hotels or all-inclusive resorts!
