If you’re an Airbnb host, a small business credit card is a great way to keep your expenses separate and earn points or cash back at the same time!
Even if you only host a few weeks a year or while you travel yourself, as long as you’re trying to make a profit, you can qualify for a small business credit card.
I’ll show you my top small business credit cards for Airbnb hosts!
Airbnb Hosts Run a Small Business
I’ve written about how you can qualify for a small business credit card.
Airbnb hosts receive a 1099 form and generate income, so they qualify as a small business to many banks!
Airbnb hosts can use small business credit cards to pay for their expenses, including:
- Cleaning products
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- Bedding and linens
- Snacks and drinks for guests, like coffee, tea, or wine
- Breakfast foods
- Business services like cleaning or key handoff
- Internet service
- Kitchen items like pots and pans
- And anything else they need to buy to keep their small business running smoothly!
It’s a good idea to keep these expenses separate because it’s easy to keep track of what you spend, and can be especially helpful around tax time for write-offs and deductions (not to mention organization!).
Plus, many small business cards earn rewards in the categories you shop the most!
The Best Small Business Cards for Airbnb Hosts
1. Chase Ink Cards

One of my favorite all-around business credit cards is the Chase Ink Plus. That’s because it earns:
- 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on internet and phone service, cable, and purchases made at office supply stores
- 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points at gas stations and hotel stays booked directly with the hotel
- 1X Chase Ultimate Reward point per $1 spent on other purchases
So say you spend $100 per month providing internet and cable TV to your Airbnb guests. You’d earn 500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points (5 Chase Ultimate Rewards points X $100). That’s worth $5 cash back each month. Or $6.25 towards flights in the Chase Travel Portal.
But my favorite use for these points is to transfer to great partners like Hyatt for hotel stays and United Airlines for flights to Europe, Hawaii, and more.
Airbnb hosts who pick-up guests at the airport can not only deduct the price of gas from their taxes, they can earn points for travel or cash back too! With the Chase Ink Plus you’ll earn 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points or 2% cash back at gas stations.
And because your Airbnb business is dependent on you having internet to upload photos, communicate with potential guests, etc., you can put your home office internet bill on your Chase Ink cards as well!
There’s a $95 annual fee, waived the 1st year. Be sure to read about the other benefits of the card!
And if you want a cash back card, the Chase Ink Cash is a great choice.
It earns 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points (5% cash back) in the same categories as the Chase Ink Plus.
And it earns 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points (2% cash back) per $1 spent at gas stations and restaurants.
Folks who also have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Plus, or Chase Ink Bold, can easily combine their points to transfer to airline and hotel partners, or book travel at the Chase Travel Portal, where points are worth 1.25 cents each!
Both the Chase Ink Plus and Chase Ink Cash come with access to the Chase Ink App, which helps you keep track of your expenses.
Remember that you can buy lots of household items at office supply stores and earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points, like toilet paper, soap, paper towels, cleaning products, and snacks!
It’s not always a good deal to buy these items at office supply stores, but you can earn a lot of points when the items you need are on sale.
And if you shop online, be sure to earn even more miles or points by clicking through a shopping portal! When you add it all together, you can earn lots of extra miles and points this way!
2. AMEX SimplyCash
AMEX SimplyCash has a limited-time $250 statement credit as a sign-up bonus after you spend $5,000 on qualifying purchases within the 1st 6 months of opening your account. It’s a no annual fee small business credit card that earns:
- 5% cash back at US office supply stores & US cell phone service on purchases up to $25,000 per 12 month billing period starting ~February 1 each year
- 3% cash back in the category of your choice on purchases up to $25,000 per rebate year including US gas stations, US restaurants, and more!
- 1% cash back on other purchases
So this card will earn 5% cash back per $1 spent at US office supply stores, and on your cell phone bill! Many Airbnb hosts love to buy furniture at Ikea. But you sometimes can find good deals on computer chairs and desks at office supply stores like Staples.
You’ll also receive special discounts from the AMEX OPEN small business program.
And, because it’s an AMEX card, it’s eligible for lots of other perks and benefits.
There are often fantastic AMEX Offers, and you can sign-up for them with AMEX small business cards. For instance, recently there was an offer for $25 off at Best Buy. That could be helpful for Airbnb hosts looking to purchase a TV for their rental apartment.
3. AMEX Starwood Small Business Card
Of course, Airbnb hosts will want to stay with Airbnb during their travels but Starwood points are valuable because you can use them for award stays at Starwood hotels, or transfer them to ~30 airline partners like Alaska Airlines and American Airlines.
So you can use your Starwood points to fly nearly anywhere in the world!
Starwood also has innovative ways to use your points that can save you a lot of cash. I like Cash & Points (possibly my favorite use!) and Nights & Flights (an amazing way to get a hotel & airfare package).
4. An Airline Small Business Card
Having an airline small business credit card is a great way to boost your mileage balance for when you get ready to travel yourself.
The CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum card earns 2X American Airlines miles per $1 spent on American Airlines flights, and 1X American Airlines mile on other purchases.
This is a great card if you fly American Airlines because you’ll also get priority boarding and the 1st checked bag free for yourself and up to 4 companions on the same itinerary. That can add up to save you a lot of money!
You’ll get similar benefits with the Chase United Explorer small business card and the AMEX Gold Delta Small Business Card, which both earn 2 miles per $1 spent, and come with priority boarding and a checked baggage perks.
Choose the small business card of the airline you like to fly to make your travels a little more comfortable!
And if you like Southwest Airlines, the Chase Southwest Premier Business Card is another 1 of my favorite cards because the sign-up bonus counts toward earning the Southwest Companion Pass, which lets you travel with a partner for (nearly) free!
You’ll earn 2X Southwest points per $1 spent on Southwest Airlines flights, and 1 Southwest point per $1 spent on all other purchases.
You’ll also get 6,000 bonus Southwest points each year on your card anniversary, which you can use for award flights.
And remember, everyone gets 2 free checked bags and NO change fees on Southwest flights!
Airbnb hosts have a unique small business, but there are lots of small business credit cards to earn miles or points in certain categories, like at office supply stores (good for toilet paper and cleaning supplies!), or on cell phone and internet bills.
