Sometimes Picking up the Phone and Giving the Bank a Call Can Help You Get Approved

With Barclaycards it typically only takes a few days to receive the sign-up bonus after you complete the minimum spending.  But you may have to wait until after your statement closes.

If you’ve already had this card, Barclaycard usually lets folks get the sign-up bonus on their cards more than once.  However, I would wait at least 6 months before signing-up again.

And if you recently applied for the Barclaycard Hawaiian Airlines card with the lower sign-up bonus, it doesn’t hurt to call Barclaycard and see if they will match the current offer!

Where Can You Go With 50,000 Hawaiian Airlines Miles?

The 50,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles you earn with the Barclaycard Hawaiian Airlines card is more than enough for a round-trip coach flight from North America to Hawaii.

Or you can book inter-island flights for 7,500 Hawaii Airlines miles each way.

You can also transfer Hawaiian Airlines miles to Hilton at a 1:1.5 ratio.  This may be a good deal for folks who need extra points for an award stay.  That said, remember there are lots of ways to earn Hilton points!

Transfer Your Hawaiian Airlines Miles to Hilton for 1 Night at the Waldorf Astoria New York, Which Can Cost ~$289 per Night

You have to call Hawaiian Airlines at 877-426-4537 to make the transfer, and it can take 10 to 15 business days for the Hilton points to post to your account.

You Can Get a Lot of Perks With This Card, So Should You Sign-Up?

Barclaycard typically only approves folks for 1 or 2 of their cards per year.  So choose your applications wisely.

And while it may seem like you get a lot with the Barclaycard Hawaiian Airlines card, I think other cards offer a better deal.

For instance, you can save miles on award flights to Hawaii with British Airways Avios points.  And the Chase British Airways card is currently offering an increased sign-up bonus where you can earn a total of 100,000 British Airways miles.

If you live on the West Coast, you can get to Hawaii for just 25,000 British Airways Avios points round-trip!

And while you’ll get perks like a free checked bag with the Barclaycard Hawaiian Airlines card, this is only good for the cardholder.  Other cards extend this benefit to travel companions.

For example, with the Citi AAdvantage Executive card you’ll get the 1st checked bag free for up to 8 companions on the same reservation.

You’ll Get More Free Checked Bags With the Citi AAdvantage Executive Card

You can also get a decent deal by transferring Hawaiian Airlines miles to Hilton at a 1:1.5 ratio.  But I’d rather sign-up for the Citi Hilton Reserve card and earn 2 weekend nights at almost any Hilton hotel when I complete the minimum spending!

Bottom Line

The Barclaycard Hawaiian Airlines card is currently offering an increased sign-up bonus of 50,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles when you complete the minimum spending.

Log into your Hawaiian Airlines account and look for the banner to get this offer.

Emily and I don’t earn a commission from this card, but we’ll always tell you about the best deals!

The $89 annual fee is NOT waived the 1st year.

This card comes with a lot of perks and could be useful for folks planning a trip to Hawaii.  But choose your Barclaycard applications wisely and be sure to compare with cards like the Chase British Airways card before you sign-up.

  2. I got was approved for the 35,000 sign up bonus points with the Hawaiian Airline Card. Called and spoke with a manager and she gave me 5000 extra miles and waived the $89 annual fee. So I will get a total of 40,000 miles and no annual fee. Am happy with that.

  3. Barclaycard has added language in the T&C that states no bonus if you ever had the card, and unless they state in writing you are eligible, they reserve the right to claw back the points or charge you what they think the points were worth….scariest language I ever read….wonder what they value the points at?

  4. @Lyndellruthesa Thompson – Excellent! Glad you were able to get the extra miles!

  5. For the companion discount, do you have 13 months to book the flights or do you have to fly within 13 months

  6. I can’t find in the terms and conditions where it says what @wise2u says above. Is there any truth to this? Generally getting a bonus more than once has never been an issue with Barclays?

  7. I just applied for the 35,000 point offer, and got an application pending message. I just found this 50,000 point offer. Should I call and have my application withdrawn, and then reapply for the 50,000 offer instead?

  8. I received the offer for 50,000 miles on a flight. I brought the flyer home, filled it out and sent it in. I had tried doing it online, but 50,000 miles was only offered at that point if you sent in the paper application. 7 weeks later I still hadn’t heard. Many dropped calls by Barclay Card and about an hour later , I finally spoke to a real person. My application hadn’t been received, and they cannot give me 50,000 miles as that isn’t the current offer. Advice? Don’t send off the paper application, unless maybe you put it in a real envelope.

  9. I love Hawaiian miles because I travel to Hawaii often.
I had a Barclay’s Hawaiian credit card that I closed about 10 months ago – so it is to early to reapply.
I recently flew on Hawaiian Airlines and they were offering a 50K-miles offer thru the Bank of Hawaii.
This offer was an inflight only offer – that you need to mail in.
    I have 2 questions

    Q1
Is the BofH offer the same as the Barclay’s offer?
IE – Can I apply for the BofH Hawaiian credit card – even thou I recently had a Barclay’s Hawaiian credit card?
    Here are the 2 only offers that I found online ;

Barclays Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard
    https://home.barclaycardus.com/cards/hawaiian-airlines-world-elite-mastercard.html

Hawaiian Airlines® Bank of Hawaii World Elite MasterCard
    https://www.boh.com/personal/banking-products/credit-cards/Hawaiian-Airlines-Bank-of-Hawaii-MasterCard.asp

Note the BofH inflight offer does mention it is a Barclays card – although it does say it is a BofH card.

    Q2
If I can apply for the BofH card.
Does anyone know how long the inflight offer is good for?
IE – I am suppose to mail it in.
I want to apply – but not for another month.
Are there any time constraints on these inflight offers (I am not seeing anything).

    Thanks
