The better offer for the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum card is back!
That’s 20,000 more miles than the usual bonus. Emily and I don’t earn a commission for this offer, but we’ll always tell you about the best deals!
The sign-up bonus could get you LOTS of Big Travel on American Airlines and their partners. Let’s see where you can go!
What’s the Deal?
For a limited time, you’ll earn 50,000 American Airlines miles with the CitiBusiness American Airlines Platinum card when you spend $3,000 on purchases in the 1st 3 months of opening your account.
Note: The fine print on the offer says:
This CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® card offer is not available to you if you already have a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card account. Additionally, this offer is valid only for first time CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® cardmembers
So if you already have, or have had this card, you can NOT earn the increased bonus.
With this card, you’ll also get:
- 2 American Airlines miles per $1 you spend with American Airlines
- 2 American Airlines miles per $1 you spend at certain office supply, telecommunications, and rental car companies
- American Airlines Companion Certificate when you spend $30,000 on your card in 1 cardmember year
- 1st checked bag free for you and up to 4 companions
- Priority boarding
The $95 annual fee is waived for the 1st year.
This is a business card, but even folks with small businesses like bloggers, child care providers, music teachers, or re-sellers on eBay or Amazon could qualify.
And there’s NO foreign transaction fees. So this is a great card for folks to use overseas.
Where Can You Go With 50,000 American Airlines Miles?
If you prefer staying closer to home, 50,000 American Airlines miles is enough for TWO round-trip coach tickets within the continental US, Alaska, or Canada.
Or use 50,000 American Airlines miles for an off-peak (October 1 to April 30), round-trip coach ticket to Asia (region 1), which includes Japan and Korea.
American Airlines off-peak award tickets are a fantastic deal!
Remember, you can use American Airlines miles for flights on American Airlines, US Airways, and their oneworld partner airlines (like Cathay Pacific and Qantas), and other airline partners like Etihad.

Until September 14, 2015, there’s an increased 30,000 point sign-up bonus on the AMEX Starwood cards (personal and small business) after meeting minimum spending requirements.
You can transfer Starwood points to American Airlines miles at a 1:1 ratio. And if you transfer in increments of 20,000 Starwood points, they’ll add an extra 5,000 American Airlines miles.
And through August 31, 2015, you’ll earn a 20% bonus when you transfer Starwood points to American Airlines. This is a good deal if you need more American Airlines miles for First Class tickets or a big family trip!
Normally, you’ll earn 25,000 American Airlines miles when you transfer 20,000 Starwood points to American Airlines. But with this transfer bonus, you’ll earn 30,000 American Airlines miles.
Or, consider signing-up for Citi’s personal American Airlines cards, like:
- Citi AAdvantage Executive – Earn 75,000 American Airlines miles after you spend $7,500 on purchases in the 1st 3 months of opening your account. Here’s my review of the card.
- Citi Platinum Select AAdvantage – Earn 50,000 American Airlines miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases within the 1st 3 months of opening your account. Check out my review.
Remember, Citi will only approve 1 credit card application per day, and no more than 2 every ~65 days. And you should wait at least ~8 days between applications.
The usual offer for this card is 30,000 miles, so this is a great deal.
50,000 American Airlines miles can get you a LOT of travel, like 2 round-trip coach tickets within the continental US, Alaska, and Canada. Or use your miles to travel to Europe, Asia, and more!
We don’t earn a commission on this card, but we’ll always tell you about the best offers!
