IHG has a new fall promotion called Accelerate.  It’s similar to the Set Your Sights promotion.  If you’re a current IHG Rewards Club member, you can earn 50,000 bonus IHG points (or more!) when you sign-up and complete your personalized offers.

Each person will get a personalized offer to earn bonus IHG points.  Some of the offers have easy requirements.  And others will be ridiculous more challenging. 😉

New Members Can Enroll in IHG Rewards Club and Earn Up to 2 Free Nights!

But this time, there’s a special offer for new members.  If you don’t already have an IHG account, you can earn 1 free night at ANY IHG hotel when you sign-up and stay twice with IHG.

Or you can earn 2 free nights when you stay 4 times with IHG.

This is a terrific offer!

Note:   Award nights and paid stays booked through 3rd party sites (like TravelPony) are NOT eligible for the promotion.

Is It Worth It?

It’s definitely worth it to register this for promotion, because it’s free.  Be sure to register before you stay at an IHG hotel, because IHG does NOT credit retroactively.

If you don’t already have an IHG Rewards Club account, it’s free to join.  And you can earn a lot of Big Travel!

The best way new members can save money with this promotion is to complete 2 or 4 stays at cheap IHG hotels. And then use the free night credits at expensive IHG hotels for a special occasion or getaway.

For example, a stay at an inexpensive hotel is often under $100 each night.  With taxes and fees, the Holiday Inn Tulsa City Center is ~$87 a night stay in October.

So you could stay in 2 separate IHG hotels, or space out 2 one-night stays.  New IHG Rewards Club members who register for the IHG Accelerate promotion would earn a free night credit to use at any IHG hotel.

Keep in mind you can earn the free night credits from stays at inexpensive IHG hotels, and use them at any IHG hotel.  So if you spend $300 to $400 dollars, you can use your free night credits at hotels that cost much more.

If there’s a cheap IHG hotel near you, and you’re not already a member of IHG Rewards Club, this is an amazing opportunity to earn Big Travel!

Also remember you’ll earn another free night credit each year when you have the Chase IHG MasterCard.  And some folks are being targeted for a bigger sign-up bonus.

It also comes with IHG Platinum elite status, which is handy for late check-outs, 50% bonus points on paid IHG stays, and room upgrades when available.  Check out how to get Big Travel from this card!

Bottom Line

Existing IHG Rewards Club members can earn 50,000 bonus points (or more!) with IHG’s new Accelerate promotion for stays between September 1, 2015, and December 31, 2015.

And new IHG Rewards Club members can earn up to 2 free nights at ANY IHG hotel!  If you register a new account when you sign-up for the promotion, you’ll earn 1 free night when you complete 2 separate stays.  Or 2 free nights when you complete 4 separate stays at any IHG hotel.

If you don’t already have an account, the 2 free nights can easily be worth over $1,000!  I love Big Travel with Small Money, and it doesn’t get much better than this!

  1. can the four stays be consecutive nights or is it like marriott were you must stay 4 non consecutive nights?

  2. How long do you have to use the free nights?

  3. Does this mean it has to be booked through the IHG/hotel website? E.g. no travelocity, expedia, groupon deals, etc?

  4. Strangely enough, I was offered the free nights promo even though I’m a gold member (previously platinum via the chase ihg card)

  5. Maggie- Free nights must be used by December 31, 2016.

  6. Reminder: if an existing member signs up for a new account, it is very likely that both accounts would be shut down by IHG.

  7. @angelo rivera – The stays must be spaced out. You can’t stay 4 nights in a row because that will count as 1 stay.

    @Allan @maggie – Thank you for chiming in! 🙂

    @Stephen – That’s right. Third party bookings are NOT accepted for this promotion per the Terms & Conditions.

    @Eric V – That’s terrific! Have you had any stays with IHG recently?

    @ALEX – Correct. This offer really is intended for new accounts only.

  8. I also got this offer and I’ve been a member ~20years (back from priority club days).
    Unfortunately I don’t have cheap hotels locally, I’d end up paying close to $500 to get this.

  9. @MMS I havent stayed with them in about a year, that could be why I was targeted

  10. any word on how quickly the free night are placed in your account after you complete two stays? Heading to italy on Friday and thinking I could earn and redeem all in same two week trip!!

  11. Also received the 2 free night deal as a elite member already (though last stay with them probably wasn’t for a while). Can I use Pts + Cash to qualify as a paid stay though? i.e pay for 2 stays and get a cert back?

  12. Hi Daraius,

    My DH and I are presently staying in IHG hotels between houses for awhile. I’d seen this promo under my DH’s account but I don’t see a specific way to register. The specific breakdown of what is offered is shown and an invitation to book to meet each level, but I still don’t see an introduction to the registration as in, “go here”.

    Candlewood Suites is a property to consider for low price stays, also, for anyone just wanting to meet the minimum. For example, Clearwater CS stays advertise at about $67 a night. Pretty good for a near beach area. The impressive looking Hyatt on the beach allows covered public parking so staying at the CS and parking at the Hyatt makes for a nice beach day for a business traveler visiting Tampa/Orlando, who stays through the weekend on his/her own dime. Or even a family unable to get a vacation day until late August. Anyway, just an idea.

  13. If i book 4 nights consecutive stay individually for each night, would that count. I know that it won’t count if I book the 4 night all under the same booking but I wonder if they’ll count if booked seperately.

  14. Oops, I need to add context/correction because I started my post with a reference to “Accelerate” with IHG.

    My tip on the CS and potential low rates: In relation to Accelerate, the stay must begin 01SEP or after. So, that example of a late “vacation” day must begin in early September (not late August).

    Would hate to mislead anyone so wanted to get that correction on the record quickly. Best wishes! 🙂

  15. Would a stay using a government rate be counted for the Accelerate promotions? i.e., Is a government rate considered a disqualifying “contract rate?”

  16. @Jack H – Don’t worry, new promotions come around all the time!

    @Eric V – Thanks for the update. Interesting to know!

    @mark – In my experience, it takes a couple of weeks to get the promotional credit.

    @newToMiles – I’m pretty sure only paid stays are eligible. Here are the Terms and Conditions in case you’d like to read through them:

    @Jan B – Thank you for the helpful tips!

    @Bianca – IHG would count 4 consecutive nights as 1 stay. You’d need to space them out to get 4 stay credits.

  17. Can you double dip with the Share Forever that ends Sept. 7?

  18. So, hypothetically if my girlfriend and I were traveling together and both signed up for IHG accounts and spent say 4 nights somewhere but I booked night 1, she booked night 2, I booked night 3 and she booked night 4…..would that achieve what I’m hoping it would without breaking any official rules? 🙂

  19. @Jerry – The Terms & Conditions don’t say anything about a government, so I can’t be sure. It might be worth a call to IHG to find out for sure, especially if you’re a new user!

    @Michael – Yes, you can! That’s a fantastic deal!

    @Mark – Hypothetically, yes! 🙂

  20. Do you have to actually show up and check in or could you book a $78/night room two separate times get charged but never actually show up and use the room? I have no cheap IHG hotels nearby but if i spent $156 for 2 nights at 78/night at a hotel in the middle of nowhere it would be worth getting a free night at a top tier hotel. Any thoughts appreciated.

  21. Airline Hotel Reward rate, rates booked through third party web sites, complimentary hotel Stays and any other rates not defined as a Qualifying Room Rate at IHG s sole discretion. Only one room per member per Stay will be awarded the applicable Free Nights.
