Frontier Airlines charges extra for checked bags, seats near the front of the plane, and even carry-on luggage.

But now you can add a package to your reservation, called The Works, which could save you money compared to paying these fees separately.

Until August 31, 2015, you can add The Works to your round-trip flight starting at $49 each way.

The Works Might Worth It If You Plan on Checking a Bag on Frontier Airlines!

I’ll explain the program.  And help you decide if it’s worth it for your next flight!

What’s the Deal?

Frontier Airlines has frequent fare sales, but they charge extra for checked bags and even carry-on bags, which can turn a good deal into a not-so-good deal.

But until August 31, 2015, you can add The Works to your round-trip flight to save money on these fees.

When you add The Works, you’ll get:

  • 1st checked bag free
  • A free carry-on bag
  • Better seat selection
  • Priority boarding
  • No change fees
  • Flight refunds in certain situations

The Works starts at $49 each way, and is only available on round-trip flights.

The price varies on each route, and is charged per person and for each flight.

Price for The Works Varies on Each Flight, and Is Charged in Both Directions

I checked prices from Denver to Las Vegas, and Seattle to Cleveland, to see how much The Works would cost.  For both routes, The Works costs $59 in each direction.

Is This a Good Deal?

Link:   Frontier Airlines Baggage Fees

For a round-trip flight, you’ll pay for The Works in each direction.  For example, if The Works costs $59, you’ll pay an extra $118 in addition to the fare.

Frontier Airlines charges extra baggage fees, up to $60 for a carry-on, and up to $30 for a checked bag.  And more fees for better seats and flight changes.

So this is a great discount if you need to check a bag and bring a carry-on item.

It Costs $55 to Add a Carry-On and a Checked Bag at Booking, So The Works Can Be a Great Deal If You Need to Bring Luggage

If you pay for a carry-on and a checked bag when you buy your ticket, you’ll pay an extra $55 in each direction.  In this case, it’s a better option to buy The Works to get a better seat and priority boarding, in addition to a free carry-on and free checked bag.

As always, do the math to make sure it’s worth it for you.  If you can pack light, you’ll save more money by paying Frontier Airlines’ low fares with no extra fees!

  1. Frontier outsourced nearly 1/2 of its workforce; the U.S. Department of Transportation reports show Frontier had the highest customer complaint rate of the nation’s 12 largest carriers. If you don’t get stretch seating you will be in 29″ pitch seats. If you want the cheapest fare and don’t mind risking frustration and an uncomfortable ride Frontier may be for you, what used to be a decent airline is racing to the bottom of the pile, now ranked worse than Spirit. No Thanks!
