I’ve shown you how to earn airline miles & points by booking your tee times through Golfmiles. And how Citi Prestige cardholders can get 3 (or more!) free rounds of golf each year.
But did you know you can use Starwood points for special golf deals, like VIP access to tournaments? And Visa cardholders can get discounts on golf equipment!
Even if you don’t golf, these deals are a great way to introduce your golfing pals to the perks of collecting miles & points! Let’s see what you can get.
It’s a Great Time to Be a Golfer!
Link: Citi Prestige
Until August 15, 2015, Million Mile Secrets readers can earn 2,500 airline miles from their choice of 10 airlines when they use our link to sign-up for Golfmiles.
You’ll earn the bonus miles if you complete your 1st round of golf within 60 days of registering (it’s free to sign-up!).
Normally, the sign-up bonus is 1,000 airline miles, so this is a great offer! And it’s only available through our link.
And don’t forget, Citi Prestige cardholders receive 3 free rounds of golf per year (or even more if they golf in Asia) as a perk of having the card.
To get this deal, cardholders must book their rounds through the Citi Prestige GolfSwitch site. So you can NOT combine this with the Golfmiles offer.
Use Starwood Points for Golf Experiences
Link: SPG Moments – Golf
Folks who like to play (and watch) golf can use Starwood points for VIP tickets to tournaments, exclusive access to championship courses and resorts, and golf clinics with professional golfers.
Some of these packages are auctions which go to the highest bidder. Others can be purchased for a set number of Starwood points.
Currently, you can bid on an exclusive access package for the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola in Atlanta this September. It includes VIP tickets for 2, entry to Skyboxes on the 6th and 18th greens, full buffet lunch, open bar, and snacks.
And the high bid (so far) is only 1,000 Starwood points! Bidding closes on August 31, 2015.
In the past, similar packages have been auctioned off for 20,000 to 30,000 Starwood points.
For example, a lucky pair of golfers won the auction for tickets to the final day of the Ricoh British Women’s Open in Scotland for 30,000 Starwood points!
The package includes a night at the Trump Turnberry resort (which normally costs 12,000 to 16,000 Starwood points per night, depending on the season), lunch, dinner, and drinks for 2, a golf clinic, and a round of golf on the Ailsa championship course.
What a neat experience!
