  1. What are other ways to earn Alaska miles besides this credit card sign-up and SPG transfer?

  2. Wonder if this applies to existing cardholders or only ones approved today via the new application.

  3. I wonder how they know you have an active Alaska card, especialy since you don’t have to use them for charges. How do they know you are eligible for the fee waiver? It doesn’t state how to prove your eligibility. I’d be surprised if their flight system at the counter tells them you actually have an active Alaska card and auto waives the fee, but who knows. In a perfect world.

Have 4 flights to HI on Alaska. Avios miles. Paid with Arrival for taxes. Alaska card not in the mix.
Better make sure to bring Alaska card to the ticket counter and show them upon check-in. Otherwise you may be SOL. I could see them going “why are you showing me your Alaska card?”. “Uh fee-free bags ma’am”. Clerk, “don’t know anything about that rule. Next!”

  4. What if I was an idiot and got five of these cards the same day? Would I get five free checked luggage?

  5. A week ago I applied for this card and got the “Classic” version which is worthless. I called and they said while they could put in a request for a credit line increase to get me a “Signature” version of the card, I would not get any points or perks because I wasn’t approved for this version. Bait and switch a bit, eh? Should I hold onto this new account and in a few months apply for another Alaska card, hoping the credit I have with BOA will net me a Signature version? Or cancel and try again another day?

  6. I have Alaska Air flights booked to Hawaii for next year using Delta Skymiles. If I get this card is there a way for me to have the free baggage benefit on these flights?

If so, how would I fulfill this requirement: “Your Alaska Airlines number must be on the reservation when you check-in”?

I have a Delta American Express card that gives free baggage on Delta but it will not work if the flights are are code-shared to Alaska/Horizon.

    Thanks!
    Todd

  7. I made a reservation for my godson using my Delta miles. I have am American Express Delta card. Does my godson get his first checked bag free for his flight? Thanks.
