You Can Earn $200 in Cash Back With the Chase Freedom Card

I’ll explain why this is 1 of my favorite cards!

What’s the Deal?

You can earn 20,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($200) when you sign-up for the Chase Freedom card and spend $500 on purchases within the 1st 3 months of opening your account.

Plus, you’ll get 5X points (on up to $1,500 in spending) on rotating categories each quarter. Next quarter you can earn 5X points at gas stations and other locations through September 30, 2015.  As long as you activate the bonus by September 14, 2015.

If you spend the full $1,500 in qualifying categories you’ll earn 7,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points each quarter and 30,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points each year  (7,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per quarter X 4 quarters).

Plus, there’s NO annual fee, so you never have to cancel this card.  And it’s a great way to build a long-term relationship with Chase, which has some of the best miles and points earning credit cards available.

So the Chase Freedom is a card that I hang onto!

Transfer Your Points to Travel Partners With Other Chase Ultimate Rewards Cards!

If you have the Chase Ink Bold (no longer available), Chase Ink Plus, or Chase Sapphire Preferred, you can transfer the points you earn from your Chase Freedom card to partners such as United Airlines and Hyatt.

Chase Adds New Transfer Partner More Options To Europe

Points You Earn With the Chase Freedom Don’t Transfer Directly to Airline and Hotel Partners. Instead, You’ll 1st Need to Transfer Them to a Card Like the Chase Sapphire Preferred

By transferring your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to travel partners, the 20,000 point sign-up bonus can be worth much more than $200!

For instance, with 20,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points, you could get a free night at the Park Hyatt Buenos Aires.

The Park Hyatt Buenos Aires Costs ~$550 per Night, but You Can Stay for Free with 20,000 Points!

Bottom Line

You can earn 20,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($200) with the Chase Freedom card when you sign-up and spend $500 on purchases within the 1st 3 months of opening your account.

And those points are worth even more than $200 when you transfer them to a card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred and then to an airline or hotel partner.

But this deal ends June 24, 2015.  After that, the bonus is likely to be reduced in half to the usual 10,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($100).

  1. Daraius, thank you for this valuable information. I was wondering if you have any info about Chase’s new restrictions on its own (not co-branded) award cards. Word on the street is if one has five or more hard pulls in the last two years (doesn’t matter which banks did the pulls) then chase will deny you any ultimate rewards card, regardless of credit score. I think it would help your readers (myself included) if you could address this in a future post. Thank you!

  2. Yes!! Please tell us about how if you have 5 hard pulls in the last 24 months (with ANY credit card company) then you will be automatically denied for any Chase branded card (CSP, Freedom, Ink, Slate).

I find it reprehensible that all the bloggers promoting this card have not mentioned even one peep about these new and damning Chase developments (except Gary Leff who kinda/sorta mentioned it vaguely in one post). I think your ignoring of this issue does a GREAT disservice to your readers by leading them to the credit card hard pull “slaughter” that hurts their credit score without ever being able to get a card.

I used to read your blog every day, but now I will likely be switching to other blogs that are telling us readers the WHOLE story (like Doctor of Credit and Mile Value). What a shame. Your blog used to be one of the best and now it is solely used to hock credit cards that 95% of your readers would be automatically denied for.

  3. We just called today and asked if we could have our Chase Freedom points transferred to a Chase Ink Plus Card and they said you cannot do that? Any advice? Is there some secret way of asking for this transfer?
