I don’t like that the annual fee has increased by $20 per year, but it’s more than offset by the new $100 airline incidental fee credit.

I’ll still use my Chase Sapphire Preferred card for dining, because it earns 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points at restaurants at home and overseas.  And I like transferring points earned with the card to partners United Airlines, Southwest, and Hyatt.

  1. I don’t see these new benefits reflected anywhere on amex website… how do you know this?

  2. I don’t see these new benefits reflected anywhere on amex website… how do you know this?

  3. Remember to remind people that they need to register their airline first with Amex before they make a purchase. You won’t get the $100 credit unless you register first.

  4. Will this also apply to my current Business Gold card ?

  5. People have said that buying $50 airline gift cards counts as an incidental fee.
But reading the terms for my Amex Plat I just got, it specifically says gift cards purchases are not considered incidental. Does anyone know if this is the case (it will apply to the golds premier as well)?

  6. Just got approved for this card 2 days ago. Since it’s based on calendar year, can I buy two $50 American or Southwest gift cards and get reimbursed with the fee credit?

  8. Darius, how to best utilize the $100/yr Incidental fee (if not traveling)?

Can i buy airline giftcard, and if yes, How? So not to raise a red flag?

  9. Dear Darius, do you check your own website and reply to questions asked? Just wondering……..

  10. I selected Delta airlines as my airline for incidental reimbursements. I purchased two $50.00 Delta E-gift cards around September 20th, 2015. I did get the charges reimbursed. I had to wait till the statement came out to get reimbursed. The charges did not get credited back instantly or as soon as they posted. I got my statement credits yesterday on October 10th, 2015. Thought I would let everyone know that gift card purchases worked for me recently with Delta.
