Emily and I feel so fortunate for the lives we lead!  This hobby has made so many things possible for us!  So we try to give back in any way we can.

We were heartbroken to see the devastation after the earthquake in Nepal.  So we donated to CARE to support the recovery efforts.

  1. I commend your writing this post. To be perfectly clear, is United awarding the miles to members as a recognition for their donations, as opposed to selling the miles to the agencies? My concern is that if I give a gift, it isn’t really just going in part to pay United for the miles, but rather a generous gesture by United. This would also have tax implications. I encourage everyone to donate, but I want to be sure the full donation is getting to where it’s needed.
