Link: Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Card
Normally, the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card gets you 2 weekend nights (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) at almost any Hilton after you spend $2,500 in the 1st 4 months of opening your account.
But for a limited time, you’ll also get a $100 statement credit when you spend $100 or more on your 1st stay at a Hilton hotel within the 1st 3 months of opening your account. That more than makes up for the $95 annual fee!
Note: If you’ve opened or closed a Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card in the past 18 months, you won’t get the 2 weekend night sign-up bonus or statement credit.
Remember, the card also gives you Gold Elite status, which can save you money with free breakfast!
5 Beautiful Hilton Hotels in the Caribbean Where You Can Stay With Your Certificates
Note: I would have added Mexico to this post, but the 2 hotels I would include can’t be booked using the 2 weekend night certificates!
And while Emily is fond of the Dominican Republic, the Hilton hotels there aren’t extraordinary so they’re not on the list.
1. Bahamas: British Colonial Hilton Nassau
Want to go back in time? Stay at the British Colonial Hilton Nassau for a classic experience in a historic 1920’s era hotel. Don’t worry, it’s been renovated since! 🙂
The British Colonial Hilton Nassau is a Hilton category 6 hotel, and normally costs 50,000 Hilton points per night. I checked the price of a paid room in December (their most expensive month), and it costs $279 per night.
So you’d get a value of $558 (sometimes less) from your 2 weekend night certificates. Compare that to $2,680 at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island! But that could be worth it for folks who want to stay in a grand, beautiful, old hotel.
2. Barbados: Hilton Barbados Resort
Link: Hilton Barbados Resort
There’s lots to do around the resort, including local tours, sailing, scuba diving, and snorkeling. Or you could just relax and get a massage on the beach with a cold glass of local specialty, Mount Gay Rum.
By using your 2 weekend night certificates, you’ll get a stay worth $978!
3. Puerto Rico: Caribe Hilton
Link: Caribe Hilton
So if you used your 2 weekend nights here, you’d get a value of ~$678!
4. Puerto Rico: El Conquistador, a Waldorf Astoria Resort
Located ~1 hour from San Juan, the El Conquistador, a Waldorf Astoria Resort is ideal for folks who prefer a quieter vacation away from the big city. It’s great for families, and the kids will love the waterslides. Maybe the grown-ups too!
This hotel is unique because they have their own private island, Palomino, which is a short ride away on the resort’s catamaran. There, you can snorkel, sail, or go horseback riding on the beach.
Using the 2 weekend night certificates, you’d get a stay worth $618.
5. Puerto Rico: El San Juan Resort & Casino, a Hilton Hotel
Folks who enjoy dining, nightlife, and gambling could consider the El San Juan Resort & Casino, a Hilton Hotel on Isla Verde beach, close to San Juan airport. You could try your luck at the casino or spend the night dancing at the resort’s nightclubs.
Foodies like me will also love this hotel. It has 9 restaurants, including a steakhouse, Caribbean, Puerto Rican, BBQ, Italian, and Japanese cuisine.
I’ll take the great food but I’d trade in the gambling chips for a night with Emily at the Pablo Casals Festival.
If you use your 2 weekend night certificates, you’ll get a stay worth $718!
How Do You Use the Hilton Weekend Night Certificates?
You’ll earn the 2 weekend night certificates after you spend $2,500 in the 1st 4 months of opening your Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve account.
Hilton will email your certificates within 6 to 8 weeks of meeting the minimum spending requirement. But to book a room, you have to call Hilton at 800-446-6677.
There are a few other details to keep in mind:
- The certificates are valid for 12 months from the date they’re issued
- They can only be used for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night stays
- Only the primary cardholder can use the certificates
- The room rate and taxes are included, but gratuities, incidental charges, and resort fees are NOT (although some folks report certain hotels will waive the resort fee!)
- You can only book a standard room (not a premium room or suite) with these certificates
If you accidentally delete the email (or don’t receive it), don’t worry – the certificates should still show up in your Hilton account when you call them!
Note: With the limited-time promotion for the $100 statement credit, you must spend at least $100 on your 1st Hilton stay within 3 months of opening your account.
There aren’t as many Hilton hotels in the Caribbean as there are in other regions. But you’ll still find great spots to spend your 2 weekend night certificates from the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card, especially in Puerto Rico.
