Update:  The Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve credit card offer in this post is no longer available, but check Hot Deals for the latest offers!

Because of the improved offer for the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card, folks have been asking about the limited time $100 statement credit for Hilton hotel stays.

With this offer, you get a $100 statement credit after spending $100 or more on your 1st Hilton hotel stay within the 1st 3 months of opening your account.

But be careful!  You have to spend at least $100 at ONCE on your 1st hotel stay, otherwise you will NOT get the credit!

You’ll Have to Spend at Least $100 at Hilton Hotels on Your 1st Stay to Get Your Statement Credit

But I’ll show you how to stay at a hotel that costs less than $100 per night and STILL get the $100 credit.

Let’s see how to avoid missing out on this great perk!

What’s the Deal?

With the improved offer for the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card, you’ll earn 2 weekend night certificates after you spend $2,500 in the 1st 4 months of opening your account.

Hilton hotels include Conrad, DoubleTree, Embassy SuitesHampton InnHiltonHilton Garden InnHome2Suites, Homewood Suites, and Waldorf Astoria brand hotels.

You Could Use Your 2 Weekend Night Certificates at Almost Any Hilton, Like the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu

Plus, you’ll get a $100 statement credit when you spend $100 or more on your 1st stay at Hilton hotels in the 1st 3 months of opening your account.

The terms and conditions of the offer say:

In order to qualify for this one-time statement credit, the minimum $100 purchase requirement must be met and will include charges at hotel restaurants, lounges, retail stores, or spas, which are charged to the cardmember’s hotel room bill and settled using the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Reserve card upon checkout.

So, for example, you would NOT get the credit if you 1st spent $75 at a DoubleTree hotel, then next stay at a $500 Waldorf Astoria.  You have to spend at least $100 the 1st time!

Note:  If you’ve opened or closed a Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card in the past 18 months, you won’t get the 2 weekend night sign-up bonus or statement credit.

But What If You Want to 1st Stay at a Budget Hotel?

The good news is, the $100 minimum doesn’t just include the room charge.  So expenses like hotel restaurants and spa treatments count, as long as you charge them to your room (and pay with the card).

Splurging on Hotel Spa Treatments? They’ll Count Toward the $100 Minimum If You Charge Them to Your Room

This is a great perk, because the $100 statement credit more than makes up for the $95 annual fee, which is NOT waived for the 1st year.

Remember, there are lots of other ways to earn Hilton points!  And this is my favorite Hilton card.  Because you get 2 weekend nights (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) at almost any Hilton, even their most expensive hotels!

Bottom Line

If you want the $100 statement credit for a Hilton hotel stay with the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card, make sure you spend at least $100 on your 1st stay!

But the $100 minimum doesn’t just apply to the room cost.  As long as you charge items like hotel restaurants and spa treatments to your room, and pay with the card, you’ll get the credit if you spend at least $100 total.

Where will you stay to earn the $100 statement credit?

  1. I’m not following where you get “So, for example, you would NOT get the credit if you 1st spent $75 at a DoubleTree hotel, then next stay at a $500 Waldorf Astoria. You have to spend at least $100 the 1st time!” from “In order to qualify for this one-time statement credit, the minimum $100 purchase requirement must be met and will include charges at hotel restaurants, lounges, retail stores, or spas, which are charged to the cardmember’s hotel room bill and settled using the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Reserve card upon checkout.”

Did you leave out some of the terms and conditions? The word or concept of “1st stay” doesn’t appear in the terms and conditions you quoted”…right?

  2. Do you know if I can get the credit before a stay if I pay to upgrade a room with the card for a charge over $100?

  3. Do you know if I can get the $100 for an award stay with $100 room service, spa etc charge to the free room ?

  4. What if the first stay is an award stay? Will the $100 credit work if the room itself is paid with points?

  5. I didn’t realize there’s hiltons under $100 after taxes and fees.

  6. My husband just applied for the card for the 2 free nights but we didn’t see this offer until now. I applied immediately after and was still able to see the link for the $100 statement credit. Will the Citi Hilton honor the statement credit even if my husband called and asked them? Thank you!
