How to Book Cheap Flights to Africa!

Link:   Orbitz

Link:   Google Flights

Go to Google Flights and look for flights from New York (JFK) to Nairobi or Johannesburg.

The Flight Deal reports there are great deals to Nairobi during November, December, and February.  And cheap fares to Johannesburg in February.

But I even found a cheap flight in October to Nairobi, Kenya.

Act Fast 500 Round Trip Fares From New York To Nairobi Or Johannesburg

Fly to Kenya on Etihad for Just ~$482 Round-Trip!

I also found flights to Johannesburg, South Africa, for ~$505 round-trip from February 2, 2015, to February 12, 2015.

Deal or No Deal?

Usually a ticket from New York to Africa costs ~$1,500 round-trip.  You can save ~$1,000 on this ticket.  This is a great deal and I don’t expect it to last much longer!

You can also find these prices on Google Flights and you can book through Orbitz

What If You’re Not in New York City?

If you’re not in New York, you could use points (like British Airways Avios) to get there cheaply.  British Airways Avios work best for short-haul flights because you pay 7,500 points 1-way for flights up to 1,149 miles.

You can use the Visual Map to see how many British Airways Avios points you’ll need to get to New York.

If you have the Southwest Companion Pass, you and a companion could fly to New York very cheaply.  That’s because with the Companion Pass, your companion flies with you for almost free on both paid and award tickets.

You could also try to find a cheap paid ticket from your home airport to New York.  But do the math to see if it makes sense.

  1. Wooo hoo! I just booked to Johannesburg for three weeks in November for $598. South Africa has been a hazy dream for quite some time, and now it’ll be a spectacular reality. Many thanks for posting this deal 🙂

  2. Deal appears to be DEAD, everyone. Congrats to those who booked it and thank you to Darius for the notice!

  3. I have recently started reading your website and do enjoy it. I am seeking help and willing to compensate someone to help me use the award points/miles and dollars I have to get myself, wife and daughter (age 24) to Nairobi, Kenya via Amsterdam from New York City. I would go using points and dollars in either economy or business class (depending on price.) Dates of travel June 6-20, 2015. Do you have recommendation of who to contact? I tried to search alternatives on some of travel sites online but would appreciate your help. Main point balances Amex 370k, Hilton 320k, Delta 70k, United 125k, Merrill Lynch Signature rewards 80k.
