1. Washington, DC, to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on United Airlines for $764 Round-Trip

This could be a great jumping-off point if you want to explore other areas of Southeast Asia!
Outbound travel must occur in April 2015. And there’s a 7-day advance purchase required.
I was able to find the fare on Orbitz, and saw an even cheaper fare on Air China for ~$720!
2. New York to Moscow, Russia on Delta for $381 Round-Trip
Ok, so this isn’t exactly a tropical escape. 😉 But because the Russian ruble is doing so poorly against the US dollar, there are some very cheap fares available to Russia these days!
You can fly from New York to Moscow, Russia in coach for only $381 round-trip! That’s less than many domestic fares.
You can find this fare on the Delta website. Travel outbound by April 20, 2015. There’s a 10-day advance purchase requirement.
3. Washington, DC, to Nassau, Bahamas, on JetBlue for $275 Round-Trip

The fare is valid for travel until August 30, 2015. You have to book at least 14 days in advance.
I found the fare on the JetBlue website. Remember, when JetBlue has a cheap fare, it means you can get an award ticket on the same flight for fewer points than usual!
4. Los Angeles to Oslo, Norway, on Norwegian for $374 Round-Trip
Here’s another great deal to Europe! If your dates are flexible, you can fly from Los Angeles to Oslo, Norway for only $374 round-trip in coach.
Travel dates are in April and May 2015. You can book the ticket directly through the Norwegian website.
Note: Norwegian is a low-cost airline so you’ll pay extra for checked bags, pre-assigned seating, and meals. You can upgrade your fare to include these extras, or pay for what you need separately. 🙁
However, they do fly brand-new Boeing 787 Dreamliners with free on-board Wi-Fi!
5. Atlanta to 16 Cities on Frontier for $19 to $49 1-Way
Frontier is having another fare sale, this time on their new routes from Atlanta. You can fly for as little as $19 1-way to destinations like Orlando and New Orleans. Or $49 to Las Vegas and Los Angeles!
Book by 11:59 pm Eastern Time today for travel on certain dates in April and May 2015.
Remember, Frontier charges lots of fees! This includes checked bags, carry-on bags that don’t fit under the seat, and choosing where you sit.
Don’t Forget to Use the Right Credit Card!
If you book a fare, be sure to use a card that earns bonus points for travel or airfare purchased directly from airlines:
- Chase Sapphire Preferred – 2 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per $1 you spend on travel
- Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express – 3 points per $1 you spend on airfare purchased directly from airlines, although I’ve found you almost always get the points even if you book through a 3rd party site like Orbitz!
- Barclaycard Arrival Plus – get 2.1% back when you redeem miles for $100 travel purchases, including airfare
And remember that having certain credit cards, like the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select MasterCard, American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles, or Barclaycard US Airways gets you perks like free checked bags and priority boarding.
Get Free Hotels Nights With These Cards
Now that you’ve booked a cheap flight, remember there are lots of ways to get cheap or free hotel rooms with points from credit card bonuses and spending!
Remember, you can transfer flexible points like Chase Ultimate Rewards or American Express Membership Rewards to different hotel programs.
Note: Folks who want to book paid stays could check out discount sites like Orbitz, Expedia, or TravelPony for deals. But remember you won’t get stay credits or points (and might not have your elite status recognized).
And if you’re feeling adventurous or prefer a local, more neighborhood feel, Airbnb is a great way to save money on accomodations, especially for longer stays.
