But to earn the bonus Starwood points you have to stay 2 consecutive nights.
2X Starwood Points at Starwood Hotels
To get 2X Starwood points you have to register before your stay.
And there’s no limit to the number of Starwood points you can earn.
1,000 Bonus Starwood Points
For every 5 stays between January 5, 2015, and April 15, 2015, you can earn an additional 1,000 bonus Starwood points (up to 4,000 bonus Starwood points).
The 5 nights do NOT have to be consecutive. So you could stay January 7, 2015, January 28, 2015, February 1, 2015, February 15, 2015, and February 26, 2015, and earn an additional 1,000 bonus Starwood points.
Stay 20 nights and earn 4,000 bonus Starwood points.
Is the Promotion Worth It?
You’ll earn 2X Starwood points for every 2-night Starwood hotel stay at participating hotels. Here’s the long list of hotels that are NOT participating.
But you could earn 2,500 Marriott points after your 2nd stay at Marriott hotels with the MegaBonus promotion.
So if you stayed at the W Hoboken from February 13, 2015, to February 15, 2015, you would earn ~2,416 Starwood points (~$604 room rate x 4 Starwood points).
I value Starwood points at ~2 cents per point. So ~2,416 Starwood points are worth ~$48.
Whereas you would earn 2,500 Marriott points if you stayed at the Courtyard Jersey City Newport. I value Marriott points at ~0.5 cents each. So 2,500 Marriott points are worth ~$13.
However, folks who only have 1-night stays would be better off booking with Marriott than Starwood. Because Marriott does NOT have a 2 night requirement. And there are ~ 100 Starwood hotels that aren’t participating in the offer.
But the Marriott promotion doesn’t start until February. So folks who have hotel stays in January should stay at Starwood.
Depending on their offer, the IHG promotion would be better for some folks. But you should do what’s best for you.
And you can get an additional 1,000 bonus Starwood points after you stay 5 nights.
But the Starwood promotion isn’t a good deal for folks who only stay 1 night. For those folks, the Marriott promotion is a better offer.
While other folks might be better off with the IHG promotion.
