Million Mile Secrets reader Steve emailed:
I was wondering if the bonus on the Starwood Preferred Guest Business Credit Card from American Express card increases from 25,000 Starwood points to 30,000 Starwood points only once per year around summer time?
I don’t have any inside information, but for the last 5 summers the 30,000 Starwood point offer on the Starwood (business) and (personal) card has come out for ~1 month. This year it was offered in June.
It’s hard to say when the 30,000 Starwood point offer will be back for certain. But it could be worth waiting for.
What’s the Big Deal About an Extra 5,000 Starwood Points?
Because Starwood points are harder to get they are more valuable. But Steve can learn tips on how to use and earn Starwood points in my Starwood series.
Starwood hotel redemptions start at 2,000 Starwood points a night. So Steve can get a free night at a Starwood Category 1 hotel for 2,000 Starwood points.
So with 5,000 extra Starwood points, Steve can get:
And there are many Starwood hotels worldwide.
Steve can use his Starwood points at Starwood hotels:

AMEX may bring back the 30,000 Starwood point offer on the Starwood card next summer. Or they could surprise us and bring it back in a different month, such as in January, February, or March of next year.
Or they may not offer it again. But it’s a popular offer so it makes sense for AMEX to bring it back.
Although, if Steve has gotten the sign-up bonus on the Starwood (personal) card, he can NOT get the sign-up bonus again. But he CAN get it again on the Starwood (business) card. That’s because AMEX has different rules for personal cards and business cards.
The current bonus for both the Starwood (personal) and Starwood (business) card is 25,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 within the first 6 months.
And not only will I post if or when the offer increases to 30,000 Starwood points, but Steve can check my Hot Deals page for the latest offers.
Sorry Steve but I don’t know for sure when (or if!) the 30,000 Starwood point offer on the Starwood (personal) and (business) card will return.
But I’d guess that it will be back in the summer!
If Steve wants to wait for the offer to come around again, it could be worth the extra 5,000 Starwood points!
