  1. I went to my local Walmart and they said some policy changed so that they can no longer load prepaid gift cards (e.g., VGC bought from Staples), even PIN-enabled ones. Are you aware of this recent change? Trying to figure out how to liquidate my VGCs now. Any ideas?

  2. @Susan, just try another cashier or another Walmart. Don’t believe it. I was told the same thing when the cashier noticed that I was using prepaid gift card even the transaction went through. He still kept saying they are not suppose to do that. I just said “Thank you anyway” since it was successfully loaded to my BB. 🙂

  3. Went to my Barclay USAir account and no pop-up and no offer. Checked settings and I had not signed up for it previously. I always wait until they offer some real incentive to change to paperless. They spend a lot to mail out each month so they should offer a kick-back.

I think they may be mad at me because right now all I am doing with that card is MS. But could change and pop up in the future. Anyone else not getting this offer?

  4. Got approval for the Barclay US Airways last Friday, signed up for paperless. Went into account and changed the setting to get statements by mail/logged out of my account, went back in and the $25 statement credit pop up appeared, so changed setting back to paperless. Thanks for the heads up!!!

  5. Does anyone know if the $25 statement credit for going paperless will work for Barclays US Airways business card accounts? Or is this for personal accounts only? I currently do not see any statement credit promotion when I log into my US Air business account. Thanks!

  6. Thanks for the trick about logging in/out to get the $25 credit for going paperless. I did it for both mine and my wife’s account. I did see, however, that you also had to make a purchase by December 31 to get the credit. Just a heads up.

  7. @Susan – like Xiaoguang Li said, try another cashier or another Walmart. Also, stay away from customer service, as they are the ones who seem to deny the debit reloads. Regular cashiers never have a problem with it.

  8. Happy to see the United 20% off for flights to Japan. I’m registered for the Tokyo marathon on Feb. 22nd, so the dates work out perfectly, and I also just did the United Explorer card when it was at the 50K bonus so I’m equipped with the MP miles I’d need. Still, I’ll have to look into whether this HAS to be a R-T ticket, and whether Business-class is available or only Coach. I have a flight booked in 1st on Singapore’s A380 which I could switch around to make it my return flight instead of my outbound, but I do want to fly with SQ at least once so if United’s deal is only for R-T I may have to pass, and if it’s only for coach I don’t know if I could stand to sit in that cabin for 12 hours.

  9. @Ron – I didn’t notice that disclosure about the purchase. Did it say an amount minimum?

Data point – I was already enrolled, unenrolled, logged out and back in, offer was not there, logged out and back in a second time, and offer was available. Making an assumption that this only works for the US Air card and not other Barclays personal cards unless anyone else learns differently

  10. Do M/C gift cards work just as easily as VGCs when loading Serve? Reason I ask is that most of the OfficeMax stores in PHX are plum sold out of $100 and $200 VGC but have ample supply of MCGC.

  11. @Susan I just loaded my BB last week at Walmart with a VGC bought at Staples. Had to do it with a cashier, but no problem. If you have a Walmart with the moneypass ATM that’s even easier.

  12. Will OfficeMax allow you to use a credit card to buy gift cards? I’ve been able to use a credit card at Staples, but thought both Office Depot and OfficeMax eliminated that.

  13. If you sign up for the US Airways $25 credit for going paperless, and purchase something before December 31, can that $25 credit go towards the $89 annual fee that will show up in your 1st statement?

  14. Tried everything here to get pop up for statement credit and still nothing. Not a business card and I have the Choice Privilege as well. I will try to make a purchase next.

  15. Asked about offer of statement credit in SM and got this reply:
