  1. Do you know how many cards can we register for this per person?

  2. As many as you have!

  3. Can all three swipes be at the same store?

  4. Promotions ends when ? – 11:59pm PST, EST, CST, HST? All of the above? Terms just say Saturday. If you are on the East Coast, no worries. Pacific coast may cut off 8:59pm?

  5. You can tell if a purchase qualified by whether or not you received an email from Amex right after you made it. Note that the email may go to your partner if you have a sub-account of their Amex card.

If you did not receive the email from Amex, the purchase likely did not qualify…so you may want to hurry over to a different store and make a >$10 purchase before the end of today.

  6. A qualifying merchant refused to sell me store gift cards worth $10 each. I wanted to buy multiple gift cards. What legal action can I take ? I already reporeted the merchant to Amex, but it is not to Amex’s interest to take any action against them, as Amex will lose business. The reason they refused me the sale is they will incur charges.

  7. @nirlay The merchant is not legally obligated to sell to you. The first two merchants I approached today (always when there were no other customers in line) were happy to split my transaction 13 ways (once I explained what I was doing and thanked them profusely for working with me). When the third merchant balked, I offered to pay an extra $5 to cover the minimal transaction fees. After that he was willing!

  8. Can I use both cards under the same account # and still get the credit or does it have to be different account numbers?

  9. AMEX sure doesn’t make browsing merchants easy with their ridiculous map showing five merchants at a time.

I must have spent quadruple my savings, but it was a savings, it was nice doing it with the family, and it sure was fun.

Thanks AMEX. Looking forward to next year.

  10. I bought 7 $10 gift cards at a Houston market. I have the spg amex, platinum card, serve, delta gold and wells Fargo propel amex. I got 30 bucks for each. The hardest part was the strategy to maximize the credits. Cant wait till next time! @ryanprillman

  11. @Rachel – Can you please clarify what you mean by ” the merchant is not obliged to sell you” Do you mean a merchant is not obliged to sell any goods to any customer ? If so, why do you think so. I just want to get the hang of rules and regulations. Thanks.

  12. @Miles, I disagree. Sometimes the emails do not occur due to co-branded cards. Just speaking from experience.

  13. @Kent C, I am on the west coast and received confirmation emails to purchases I made after 9:00pm.

  14. I got $630 cashback (63 x $10-$15 transactions!!) on my Amex business card as each of the individual / employee cards also qualify!!! I just ran out of time!!! I was literally checking out till 11:59 PM on that Saturday…LOL. waiting for next year now.
