Get Small Appliances and Lots of Points From Kohl’s for Almost Free!

I’ll show you how to do the deal!

How Does It Work?

Link:   Ebates

Link:   Kohl’s Black and Decker Rebate Form

Note:  This takes some time so consider if it’s worth it for you.

Kohl’s has small Black & Decker appliances on sale for ~$20, including coffee makers, waffle irons, and blenders.

On certain items, you can get a $10 rebate in the form of a prepaid Visa debit card.  And you’ll get another $15 back in Kohl’s cash for every $50 you spend.

Nearly Free! Get Blenders, Waffle Makers, and More With This Kohl’s Deal

By stacking these deals with the Ebates cash back portal and using your Chase Freedom card (which gets you 5 points per $1 you spend at department stores this quarter) you can get appliances and lots of points for almost free.

To make the most of this deal, you’ll be stacking the following discounts, cash back, and rebates:

  • 6% cash back on Kohl’s purchases through Ebates
  • 15% off Kohl’s purchases of $50 or more
  • $15 Kohl’s cash for every $50 you spend
  • $10 rebate per Black and Decker appliance (maximum 5 rebates per product)
  • 1 Kohl’s Yes2You point per $1 you spend (worth $5 per 100 points)

You can submit a maximum of 5 rebates per product.  Some are already sold out.

I’ve used Ebates frequently in the past and have always gotten my cash back checks in a timely manner.  And I did a similar deal with Kohl’s appliance rebates last year, and got the gift cards in the mail after ~5 weeks.

If you’re not familiar with Kohl’s cash, it’s similar to a voucher which can be used like cash for future Kohl’s purchases.  Normally you have to use it within a short time period after earning it.  In this case, you’ll have to use your Kohl’s cash for purchases between December 1, 2014, and December 8, 2014.

Kohl’s Cash Can Be Used Towards Purchases Within a Short Time Frame
Frequent Miler has a good explanation of how Kohl’s cash works!

And Yes2You is Kohl’s loyalty program.  After you sign-up, you’ll earn 1 point for every $1 you spend.  You can redeem 100 points for a $5 reward (which can be redeemed for merchandise).

Here’s what I did:

Step 1:  Log Into Your Ebates Account and Navigate to Kohl’s

Go to your Ebates account then search for Kohl’s.  You’ll get 6% cash back on your purchase (they’ll send you a check).

Click the “Shop Now” Button to Navigate to Kohl’s and Earn 6% Cash Back

Be very careful and don’t skip this step, otherwise you won’t get cash back!

Step 2:   Find Black & Decker Small Appliances at Kohl’s

The ~$20 items eligible for the rebate (that aren’t sold out as of now) are:

Look for Small Black & Decker Appliances That Say “Rebate Available”

There are other, more expensive items eligible for the rebate, but you won’t get nearly as good a deal.

If you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck, stick with the ~$20 items, especially if you’re planning to re-sell them.  That’s how you’ll get the least out-of-pocket expense.

Be sure to search for these items in the browser window Ebates opened up for you.  Do NOT open a separate window otherwise you won’t get cash back from Ebates!

Step 3:   Add Items to Your Cart

Remember, you can get the $10 Visa gift card rebate on 5 of each product.  So don’t order more than 5 waffle makers or 5 blenders!

My cart looked like this:

Shipping is already free on orders over $50.

Step 4:   Add 15% Off Promo Code

Use promotion code “THANKS15” to get 15% off your order.  Look for the “Kohl’s Cash & Promos – Apply” button on the Order Summary.

Enter Promotion Code “THANKS15″ to Save 15% Off Your Order

Once you’ve entered the promotion code, you’ll see the discount.  It will also show the amount of Kohl’s cash (which can be used for later purchases) and Yes2You rewards points you’ll earn.

Kohl’s cash earned from this deal must be spent between December 1, 2014, and December 8, 2014.

You’ll See the Discount, Kohl’s Cash, and Rewards Points Earned

Step 5:   Pay With Your Chase Freedom Card

Use your Chase Freedom card to pay for the purchase.  You’ll earn 5 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per $1 you spend, worth 5% cash back.

And if you also have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Plus, or Chase Ink Bold (no longer available) card, you can transfer points earned from the Chase Freedom to airline and hotel partners like Southwest, United Airlines, and Hyatt.

Chase Freedom Points Can Be Transferred to Hyatt If You Have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Plus, or Ink Bold

Remember, you’ll get 5 points per $1 using the Chase Freedom bonus categories up to a maximum of $1,500 in spending per quarter.

If you don’t have the Chase Freedom card, you can still do this deal, but you won’t get extra points.

Instead you could use the Discover It card to get 5% cash back at Kohl’s this quarter.  Or you could use your Citi Dividend to get 5% cash back at Department Stores this quarter.

And the US Bank Cash+ card gives you 5% cash back at Department Stores if you chose that as your cash back category.

Step 6:   Submit Rebate Paperwork

After your appliances are delivered, you’ll need to submit rebate paperwork to Kohl’s.  It might be a good idea to print the form out NOW, in case they take it down from the website after the end date of the deal (November 28, 2014).

Not a Bad Idea to Print the Rebate Form Now

To submit the rebate, you’ll need to mail (before January 12, 2015):

  • The completed rebate form
  • Original UPC codes from the appliance boxes
  • Original rebate receipt or packing slip

And it’s a good idea to make copies of everything in case they get lost in the mail!

You should get your Visa gift card (issued by MetaBank) within 8 weeks.

I’m not 100% sure, but I suspect you should be able to load the card to your Bluebird or Serve account like any other prepaid card, or use it to pay bills with Evolve Money.

How the Deal Stacks Up

I ordered 25 appliances (5 of each kind).  After the 15% Kohl’s discount, the total was ~$450 including taxes.

And I’ll get:

  • 6% cash back from Ebates, worth ~$27 (~$450 x 6%)
  • $120 in Kohl’s cash
  • $20 in Yes2You Rewards ($5 per 100 points)
  • $250 in appliance rebates (25 appliances x $10 rebate per appliance)
  • 2,250 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($450 x 5 points per $1)

So the net cost of doing this deal (apart from the time spent) is ~$33 (~$450 – $27 – $120 – $20 – $250).

And you’ll get 25 small appliances and 2,250 Chase Ultimate Rewards points for your efforts!  You don’t have to go as big as I did and buy 25 appliances.  As long as you order enough to trigger the Kohl’s cash (minimum $50), it’s worth doing.

You could give away the appliances as holiday gifts, re-sell them online at a profit, or donate them to charity.

Bottom Line

You can get small kitchen appliances and a lot of Chase Ultimate Rewards points by making the most of discounts and rebates at Kohl’s.

But this deal is only good until November 28, 2014, so you’ll have to act quickly.  I got 25 appliances and 2,250 Chase Ultimate Rewards points for a net cost of ~$33.

This deal takes a bit of time and effort, so it’s not for everyone.  But if you’re an avid online shopper it might be good for you!
