New Higher Sign-Up Bonus ($150) for Discover It Cash Back Card

Signing up for credit cards through partner links earns us a commission. Terms apply to the offers listed on this page. Here’s our full advertising policy: How we make money.

Update: One or more card offers in this post are no longer available. Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.

Via Slickdeals, the Discover It card now has a $150 cash back bonus when you spend $750 within the 1st 3 months.  But this offer is NOT available through the main page on Discover.

Note: Emily and I don’t get a commission for this card but we always tell you about the best offers!  And while I think there are much better Big Travel deals available, this might interest folks who prefer cash back.

I’ll show you how to get the most from the card!

Discover It Gives You up to $75 Each Quarter

Discover IT is a cash back card.  What I like is that you get 5% back on up to $1,500 in purchases when you register each quarter for the rotating categories.  You can get up to $75 back each quarter.

For instance, through December 31, 2014, the Discover It earns 5% cash back on all online shopping and at department stores.

New Higher Sign Up Bonus 150 For Discover It Cash Back Card
Discover It Gives You Cash Back With No Annual Fee

Discover It doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees so it’s good to use while abroad.  Although Discover isn’t as accepted at nearly as many places as Visa and MasterCard.

That said, it’s 1 of the few no annual fee cards without a foreign transaction fee.  (No annual fee cards from Capital One also don’t charge you extra while shopping outside the US.)

When I’m overseas I usually use my Chase Sapphire Preferred because it has no foreign transaction fee and earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points that can be transferred to partner airlines, hotels, or used for statement credits.  The annual fee for the Chase Sapphire Preferred is waived for the 1st year.

Similar to the Discover It card is the Chase Freedom card.  The Chase Freedom has no annual fee and also gives you 5% back (or 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points) in rotating categories.  Currently the Freedom’s sign-up bonus is $100 after you spend $500 within the 1st 3 months.

According to Slickdeals, this offer for the Discover It is only for folks who haven’t previously applied.

Bottom Line

If you haven’t previously applied for the Discover It card, you can get $150 cash back  when you spend $750 within the 1st 3 months.  The card has no annual fee and doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees.

You can register each quarter to get up to $75 cash back in rotating categories such as online shopping, restaurants, and department stores.

Emily and I don’t get a commission on this deal but we always tell you about the best offers!  And this is the best offer for the Discover It card that I’ve found!

I’m more interested in cards that allow us to have Big Travel with Small Money, but Discover It is a good card for folks who prefer cash back.

That said, the Chase Freedom is a similar card in that you can earn 5% back (or 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points) in rotating categories each quarter.
