And when you use Virgin Atlantic miles on Hawaiian Airlines, you pay no fuel surcharges!  You have to call Virgin Atlantic at 800-365-9500 to redeem miles on Hawaiian Airlines.

You can transfer 12,000 American Express Membership Rewards points with 35% bonus to get 16,200 Virgin Atlantic miles.

You’ll pay 15,000 Virgin Atlantic miles (plus airport taxes) for a round-trip inter-island flight from Honolulu to Maui on May 8, 2015, to May 15, 2015.

Bottom Line

You can get a 35% point bonus when you transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Virgin Atlantic through November 30, 2014.

This could be worth it for transfers in coach on Virgin Atlantic!

You can use Virgin Atlantic miles to fly on Virgin Atlantic, but you’ll pay high fuel surcharges.  But when you redeem them on Hawaiian Airlines, you will NOT pay fuel surcharges.
