Note: The Chase Ink Plus 70,000 point bonus offer ends on October 19, 2014.
I’ll show you how to use those Chase Ultimate Rewards points to stay at Ritz-Carlton hotels. But it isn’t a very good use of Ultimate Rewards points!

However, you can NOT have both a Marriott and Ritz-Carlton account at the same time. So if you haven’t opened an a Marriott or Ritz-Carlton account, you can decide which one to open. Because of the 140,000 Ritz Carlton point card, some folks converted their Marriott accounts to Ritz Carlton accounts by calling Marriott Customer Service at 801-464-4000.
Ritz-Carlton has 5 hotel tiers:
- Tier 1 hotels for 30,000 Ritz-Carlton points per night
- Tier 2 hotels for 40,000 Ritz-Carlton points per night
- Tier 3 hotels for 50,000 Ritz-Carlton points per night
- Tier 4 hotels for 60,000 Ritz-Carlton points per night
- Tier 5 hotels for 70,000 Ritz-Carlton points per night
Ritz-Carlton only has 87 hotels in 29 countries (including the US) and doesn’t always have hotels in the traditionally popular locations. And the hotels in the popular spots like Maui, tend to be top tier and cost a lot of points.
So 70,000 Ritz-Carlton points won’t get you many nights stay! So it might not be a good deal to transfer points to Ritz-Carlton. But you should do what’s best for you.
You could stay 2 nights at the Tier 1 hotel Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner by transferring your 70,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Ritz-Carlton.
If you paid cash for 2 nights at the Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner, it would cost ~$446.
Or you could stay 1 night in a Tier 5 hotel like the Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo for 70,000 points.
Paying cash for 1 night at the Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo costs ~$858.
And when you redeem Ritz-Carlton points for 5 nights, you get the 5th night free.
If your plans are flexible, you can save up to 33% in Ritz-Carlton points booking a PointSaver award stay:
- Tier 1 hotels for 20,000 Ritz-Carlson points per night
- Tier 2 hotels for 30,000 Ritz-Carlson points per night
- Tier 3 hotels for 40,000 Ritz-Carlson points per night
- Tier 4 hotels for 50,000 Ritz-Carlson points per night
- Tier 5 hotels for 60,000 Ritz-Carlson points per night
Some folks, like business travelers, who have to stay in a certain city and/or hotel, shouldn’t do a PointSaver stay.
PointSavers hotel offers change each week and aren’t listed on the Ritz-Carlton website. You can’t book PointSavers hotels online, you have to call Ritz-Carlton at 800-542-8680.
Using Ritz-Carlton Points on Ritz-Carlton Hotel + Air Packages
A 7 night Ritz-Carlton Hotel + Air package costs 350,000 Ritz-Carlton points. With Ritz-Carlton Hotel + Air packages, you get a 7 night Ritz-Carlton hotel stay AND airline miles. But you need a lot of miles for these packages!
It could be better to transfer the points to Marriott hotels instead and use a Marriott Hotel + Air Package instead!
The number of airlines miles you earn varies depending on the airline.
You could book 7 nights at a Category 3 Ritz-Carlton hotel like the Ritz-Carlton, Cancun and pay 300,000 Ritz-Carlton points.
Note: You can’t book Ritz-Carlton Hotel + Air packages online. You have to call Ritz-Carlton at 866-922-6882.

Here are 2 examples of where you can use your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to stay at Ritz-Carlton hotels.
1. New York
The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park costs 70,000 Ritz-Carlton points per night.
70,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points gets you 1 night on December 5, 2014. But you can pay fewer Hyatt or IHG Rewards points to get a hotel in New York City, so this isn’t a great deal if you’re looking to pay fewer points.
If you paid cash, it would cost ~$1,375!
You’ll pay 30,000 Ritz-Carlton points per night at the Ritz-Carlton, Beijing.
You can redeem 70,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points and spend 2 nights over Veteran’s Day weekend (November 7, 2014, to November 9, 2014).
Paying cash for 2 nights costs ~$1,049.
You can get 75,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points on the Chase Ink Plus card after spending $5,000 in the 1st 3 months.
But transferring the points to Ritz-Carlton may not be the best use of those points!
