Is This Card a Good Deal?

Here’s a quick review of the benefits:

How Can You Use the Free Night?

The free night certificate you get for signing-up for the Marriott Rewards Premier Business card is good towards Marriott category 1 to 4 hotels.  The free night you get each year for your card anniversary can be used towards Marriott category 1 to 5 hotels.

Within these categories are a good number of hotels located in popular travel destinations.  Many of the hotels are NOT located in the heart of the action.  But they are free.

For example, you could stay at the category 4 Marriott hotel, Courtyard Lake Buena Vista which is not on the Disney World property, but it’s only a ~5 minute drive away.

Limited Time 70000 Points And 1 Free Night With Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Business Card

You Could Use Your Free Night to Stay ~5 Minutes From Disney World!

Note:  Free night certificates could take 6 to 8 weeks after approval to appear in your account.  And they expire 6 months from the issue date.

Use Your 70,000 Points at Ritz-Carlton

You will also get 70,000 Marriott points when complete the minimum spending on this card.  You could use these points at a fancy Ritz-Carlton hotel like the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong.

Limited Time 70000 Points And 1 Free Night With Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Business Card

A Night at the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong Can Cost ~$600, but You Could Use Your 70,000 Marriott Points to Stay for Free!

Climb Faster Up the Elite Status Ladder

You get Marriott Silver status with this card and this isn’t good for much except a 20% point bonus on stays and priority late check-out (when available).

But this does get you 1 step closer the Marriott Gold  & Platinum status, which would give you free breakfast, internet, lounge access, and more.

This is valuable if you stay at a lot of Marriott hotels.

Bottom Line

You will get 70,000 Marriott hotel points when you sign-up for the Marriott Rewards Premier Business card and complete the minimum spending.  You will also get 1 free night in a category 1 to 4 Marriott hotel and a free night in a Marriott category 1 to 5 hotel for your card anniversary each year.

This is a good card for folks who frequently stay at Marriott hotels.  That’s because the 15 elite night credits you get with the card will help you reach Marriott Gold & Platinum status, which means you get free breakfast, internet, lounge access, and more.

Even if you don’t stay at Marriott hotels often, this could be a good card just for the free nights and the points that you can use towards a free stay at a top tier Ritz-Carlton hotel.

If you don’t qualify for a business card, you can apply for the Marriott Premier Rewards personal card which has many of the same benefits.

  1. The terms are a bit confusing.

“This new cardmember bonus offer is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of this consumer credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of this consumer credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this consumer credit card within the last 24 months.”

Chase refers to this “business” credit card as a consumer credit card. I assume that will still disqualify me if I currently have the original premier card for over two years now? Or can I apply for this one and get the points and free night?

  2. I’m with Kevin. Would love clarification on this.

  3. ok, so please explain. Is this better then the ritz carlton card? 140k? Im really confused about both offers. Which one is better if I plan to use it only on marriott?

  4. It says of *this* consumer credit card, so I feel pretty good about it.

  5. Keep in mind that if you have EVER had a MR business card you will NOT get the initial free night award but you’ll probably get the 70K pts. as long as it’s been > 24 months since you received the previous bonus. Same with the personal card. I’ve had 2 or 3 personal cards over the years and the only time I got the initial free night award was the first time. Chase has a LONG memory. 🙂 But I did get the pts. bonus each time.

  6. Can you use the free night for someone in your family, or does it have to be you personally who checks in? Also, would you cancel the card before the end of the year to avoid paying an annual fee?

  7. I signed up for the personal card earlier this year but was sent an offer to invite friends to apply for the personal card with the same offer (70K + Free Night). For each friend approved, you get 10 K after their first purchase. Great way to introduce folks to miles and points and receive a nice dividend.

  8. Yes, can someone please help clarify if personal and business version of this card are 2 separate products and that we can get 70K points when we successfully apply for both and meet min spending requirements?

    The terms are very confusing.

    Thanks

  9. Chase Marriott application hotline (877-206-9826) tells me that the personal and biz cards are 2 separate products and that I would qualify for the bonus points from both accts.

  10. If you have the personal card and get the business card would you start the year with 30 elite night credits?

  11. Honestly this card AF is well worth the cost. Marriott stays are expensive compared to Other hotels and if you already spend the money on Marriott stays the $85 Annual fee pays itself off in 1 night every year as long as you stay in a category 1-5 hotel.

  12. Would anyone know if you have the personal card, and then get the business card, would the elite status be cumulative earning you a total of 30 nights credit? That would be a big jump towards Gold.

    • @Kevin @Miles @Sam A – I’m assuming this is a typo, because business and personal cards are usually separate products. But ymmv…

      @Jonathan – You could eventually get all…

      @Ben E @Nina – I beleive so, but don’t have personal experience.

  13. Just applied for a business card… waiting for the approval. Haven’t ever been turned down by Chase, except when I applied for 4 cards in a week a year ago. Anyways, always use your referral links as a thank you for the info you two provide. This info is STELLAR, most helpful, and has helped me and my gf travel BIG with small money in E/SE Asia. Thank you both!

  14. I have received the signup bonus on the Marriott Premier Personal (70k), Marriott Business (30k), and the new Marriott Premier Business (70k) all within two years. YMMV. Also, Marriott will only honor elite night credits from one of your credit cards, so you will only have 15 elite night credits from your cards even if you have both the personal and business versions. They will give you a free night credit on your birthday though! =)

  15. Can you verify where you saw you get 2 x points for “office supply stores, internet, cable, and phone” as stated in your post. I don’t think that’s the case but would be happy if it was. Thanks

  17. I got the 70K signup bonus. I tried to use my points for a king-size bed/room at the Marriott Kensington in London for May 2015 for 2 nights (35,000 pts night). Despite having that type room available for cash purchase, Marriott’s reservations system would allow my points to be used only for a room with one double bed. Not even an option to upgrade. A double bed is inadequate for me and my wife.

Any suggestions on a possible work-around, other than look for a different Marriott?

    Thanks.

  18. FYI folks, the 70K points offer is back on. This one is for the personal card, not biz.

Spend requirement is $2,000 in the first 3 months. Link:

    Cheers!

  19. My annual fee for the Marriott credit card is coming up in February. Should I close the account or should I keep it?
From some reading, it looks like this card is churnable – anyone has personal experience with this?

  20. I just got the 140k bonus on the Ritz Carlton card. Does anybody know if I’m eligible for this 70k bonus? Thanks.

  21. I cancelled my personal Marriott card in November of 2014. In December of 2014 I took out and earned reward on a Marriott biz card. I got the bonus but not the free 1-4 award night. I had never received a bonus on a biz card before. In May I took out another personal Marriott card and got a 1-4 catagory award for a full year not 6 months. What gives
