How Do You Earn IHG Rewards Points?
There are several ways to earn IHG points:
- Use Cash & Points to buy points
- Transfer Ultimate Rewards points from your Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Plus.
- Apply for the IHG Rewards credit card for 60,000 points. It also includes a free night every year, after your 1st year which makes up for the annual fee. There is also an unconfirmed 80,000 IHG points sign-up bonus on Flyertalk
And you can buy them through the Daily Getaways as well because the points from last week are still currently available!
You can get IHG points for 0.7 cents per point, if you’re comfortable using the cash and points trick.
You could also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to IHG Rewards at a 1:1 ratio. But you can get a much better value for your Ultimate Rewards points if you transfer to other partners such as Hyatt or United.
At 5,000 points per night, IHG PointBreaks hotels are a bargain. That’s because you are saving 5,000 to 45,000 points per night!
You have until July 31, 2014, to book your stay, but the popular hotels on the list sell out quickly. So if you see a hotel you like, book it! You can usually cancel without penalty if you decide to not take the trip. But check the cancellation policy BEFORE you book!
