If you’re not a Club Carlson member, 1st sign-up for the free program to be eligible. Club Carlson is the loyalty program for:
With this promotion, you can only earn triple points at Country Inns & Suites hotels. But the points you get can be used for award nights at any Club Carlson hotel.
You’ll earn 60 points per $1 you spend for stays of 2 nights or longer at Country Inns and Suites hotels. So on a $200 hotel stay, you’d earn 12,000 ($200 hotel bill X 60 points per $1 spent) points.
That’s more than enough for an award night at a Category 1 hotel.
But there aren’t many Category 1 Club Carlson hotels in holiday destinations. But if you already have some Club Carlson points, this could be a good way to top-off your account for a stay at a higher category hotel.
For example, there are lots of Club Carlson hotels in Category 3, which cost 28,000 points per night.
Earn Even More Club Carlson Points
You can earn even more Club Carlson points by paying for hotel stays with the Club Carlson Premier Rewards Visa card. The big benefit of the card is getting your last night free when you redeem Club Carlson points for a stay of 2 or more nights.
With this card, you’ll get:
- 85,000 points (50,000 after your 1st purchase and 35,000 points after spending $2,500 in the 1st 3 months)
- 10 points per $1 you spend at Club Carlson hotels
- 5 points per $1 you spend on everything else
- Get a free night on award stays of 2 nights or more
- Gold elite status
- Visa Signature benefits which can include perks like discounted movie tickets!
- Annual fee of $75, not waived for the 1st year
So if you used the card to pay for stays at a Country Inn & Suites during this promotion, you’d earn a total of 70 points per $1 you spend (60 points from the promotion + 10 points from the card).
Is It Worth It?
Most Country Inns & Suites hotels are in North America, so if you’re planning a summer vacation to a location that has a Country Inns & Suites hotel, this could be earn you extra points. Especially if you have the Club Carlson Visa card!
This promotion isn’t so good that I’d go out of my way to book a Country Inns & Suites hotel just for the extra points. But if you have a stay planned anyway, or were planning on staying at a different hotel that won’t get you extra points, this is a good deal.
There are Country Inns and Suites in lots of major American cities (and many small ones, too). Here are the number of hotels in a random list of big cities:
- Chicago (18 hotels)
- Denver (2 hotels)
- Los Angeles (3 hotels)
- Minneapolis (22 hotels)
- New Orleans (4 hotels)
- Orlando (3 hotels)
- Philadelphia (2 hotels)
- San Francisco (2 hotels)
- Washington, DC (8 hotels)
One nice thing about Country Inns & Suites is you get free hot breakfast and internet at their hotels. You don’t even need elite status!
You can earn triple Club Carlson points when you stay 2 nights or more at Country Inns & Suites hotels from June 1, 2014, to September 1, 2014. But you have to register for the promotion before May 31, 2014.
You’ll earn 60 points per $1 you spend at Country Inns & Suites. Even though you can only earn points at Country Inns & Suites, you can use the points for award nights at any Club Carlson hotel.
And if you use the Club Carlson Premier Rewards Visa card with this promotion, you’ll earn a total of 70 points per $1 you spend. That’s very good!
