Did you know you can earn airline miles for staying at Hyatt hotels?

You can get double hotel points at Hilton and Starwood hotels this summer and now you can earn triple airline miles at Hyatt.

Hyatt members earn triple airline miles with certain airlines for stays completed at Hyatt hotels from May 1, 2014, to August 31, 2014.

With Hyatt’s New Summer Promotion You Can Get 3X Airlines Miles

How Many Miles Can You Earn?

With this deal can earn up to 7,500 base miles and up to 14,000 bonus miles, for a total of 21,500 airline miles.

For example, on your 2nd stay you get 1,500 airline miles (500 base miles + 1,000 bonus miles) instead of the usual 500 airline miles.  This is a nice bonus if you find a good deal on a Hyatt hotel.

You Could Earn a Maximum 21,500 Airline Miles, But You Have to Complete 15 Stays!

Note:  The points you earn are per stay.  So short stays make this deal a better value.

Each stay will still count towards Hyatt elite status.  And If you’re a Hyatt Platinum or Diamond elite member, you can still get your elite member benefits.

Is It Better to Earn Miles or Points?

If you stay at a Hyatt hotel and choose to earn Hyatt points, you will earn 5 points per dollar spent.  So if you complete 5 one night stays that cost $150 per night, you will earn 3,750 Hyatt points ($150 x 5 points per dollar x 5 one night stays).

But if you choose to earn airline miles, you will get 6,500 airline miles.  I would rather have 6,500 airline miles than 3,750 Hyatt points.  However, as always, it depends upon your personal goals.

How to Earn Triple Airline Miles From Hyatt

Step 1 – Select an Airline & Register

You can only register to earn miles with 1 airline, so choose wisely.  Each airline has a separate registration page:

How Long Will It Take for the Miles to Show Up in Your Account?

The airline miles should credit to your account within 4 to 6 weeks after you complete your stay.

Bottom Line

Hyatt Gold members can earn 3X airline miles when they complete at least 2 stays at certain Hyatt hotels.  You must check-out by August 31, 2014, for your stay to count towards this promotion.

If you already have plans to stay at a Hyatt hotel this could be a good way to earn the extra miles you need for your next award ticket.  This could also be useful for folks who can complete short stays at can Hyatt hotels with cheap rates.

  1. Hi MMS,

Am I understanding this correctly that you need to present your Frequent Flyer info @ check-in to receive miles, and that if you don’t then you would earn the regular points (5x$XXX)?

I guess what I’m getting at is that I have several Hyatt stays planned coming up, and wanted to know if I could go back and forth from earning Miles vs Points if I a.) had 1 night stays where Miles would be more worth it and b.) had multi-night stays where points would be more worth it.

    Thanks!

  2. Also, does this also count towards Cash + Points bookings?

  3. @Jonathan – They need your airline number to get you the miles. It doesn’t count for Cash & Points bookings.

  4. If I have a 5 night stay planned for a hyatt, can I simply check in and out each day to make each night qualify as a stay?
