The Shops Away toolbar alerts you when you visit a store website that offers bonus miles.

You can uninstall the shopping toolbar if you decide you don’t need it.  However, keep in mind that the terms & conditions say:

We reserve the right to remove the download bonus of 500 miles if you subsequently uninstall the Mile Finder

Virgin Atlantic miles expire if you don’t earn or use miles in 36 months.  Taking advantage of this deal is a good way to keep your Virgin Atlantic miles active another 3 years.

Emily and I have flown Business Class on Virgin Atlantic but we used Hawaiian Air miles.  I usually prefer to transfer Virgin Atlantic miles to Hilton, but the transfer ratio has reduced.

Bottom Line

Download the free Shops Away tool bar by May 14, 2014, to get 500 Virgin Atlantic miles.  It can take up to 48 hours for the points to post to your account.

This is an easy way to keep your Virgin Atlantic miles from expiring for another 36 months.

However, I personally don’t like installing things like this onto my computer.  That’s because they collect personal information, slow down your computer, and they can be difficult to remove.  But do what’s comfortable for you!

  1. I installed it on a browser I don’t really use… No need to uninstall it 🙂

  2. Anthony Thomas

You can always download a 2nd browser and install it on there!

  3. Having a hard time actually finding the download page for the toolbar…?

  4. Never mind; finally got it to work…..

  5. @Anthony,

Is it actually possible to get them to stack like that?

  6. Sorry but I am not getting a download button, your link does not take me to the proper location and searching their site for shopping toolbar turns up nothing either.

  7. @ WilliamCharles I don’t believe you can install it twice on the same PC, even if on two different browsers. The installer will detect the program already existing on the machine. Probably would at least need to partition the hard drive to install 2x.

  8. Whenever I click the link above it takes me to a page that “cannot be displayed.” Tried to Login to the shopping portal and I am unable to access it was well. Any thoughts?

  9. The links don’t work.
