How Many Miles Can You Earn?
There are 3 categories of tasks you can complete to earn
~1,000 American Airlines miles in ~15 minutes. In addition, you can earn up to ~9,000 miles when you fly American Airlines and oneworld airlines.
1. Learn & Earn – Up to 700 American Airlines Miles
This section includes 9 games and quizzes. It takes less than 10 minutes.
If you don’t answer the questions correctly in the New American Trivia and Match the Tailfins sections, you will receive a lower bonus. But you get 2 chances out of 3 to find the correct answer. For all other sections you will get the full bonus even if you choose the wrong answers.
The questions are easy. But here are the answers to the first 2 sections to save you some time!
New American Trivia
Match the Tailfins
Here is an example of a game you play to earn miles:
2. Be Social & Earn – Up to 350 American Airlines Miles
Not everyone wants to “share” American Airlines information on their social media accounts. Especially for just a few hundred miles.
You will automatically have 50 miles, because you had to “Like” American Airlines to register. You can invite
1 close friend or family member to earn another 50 miles. The person you invite must register and participate for you to get the points.
Then you can view a ~2 minute video to earn another 25 miles. You don’t have to watch the video to get the points. 😉
3. Fly & Earn – Up to 9,000 American Airlines Miles
You have take 5 flights and beat your Elite Qualifying Miles goal (set by American Airlines) to earn all the miles. I wouldn’t pay for 5 flights just to earn ~9,000 bonus miles. Each flight earns 500 miles and must be taken between March 21, 2014 and May 23, 2014.
Here is a list of the types of flights you have to take to earn the points:
- fly any US Airways flight
- fly any new US route that is part of the American Airlines and US Airways merger
- fly any US Airways shuttle flight
- fly any American Airlines or US Airways international flight
- fly any oneworld partner airline (NOT including American Airlines & US Airways)
Any qualifying flights you take before you register will still earn the points. But it’s a good idea to register now, so you don’t forget later.
Even if you don’t earn the points for flying, you can still take 5 simple quizzes and earn another 250 miles.
How Long Will It Take for the Miles to Show Up in My Account?
The terms & conditions say the miles will be credited 3 to 4 weeks after the promotion ends on May 23, 2014.
Is It Worth It?
In my opinion, YES. You can earn ~1,000 points with trivia and games that are very easy and can be completed quickly. But it depends on how you value your time.
American Airlines miles expire if there is no activity on your account for 18 months. Completing just
1 task will renew your miles for another 18 months. You can also check out my list of other ways to keep your miles from expiring.
You can get a quick ~1,000 American Airlines miles on Facebook. This doesn’t take much time and it’s worth the ~15 minutes to keep your points active for another 18 months.
You also have the opportunity to earn up to ~9,000 miles. But you have to take American Airlines and one world flights. I wouldn’t book flights just to get the extra miles. However, it doesn’t hurt to register so you will get bonus miles if you happen to take a qualifying flight.
