You can get 38,000 Club Carlson points after you stay 3 nights with the Club Carlson Stay 3 Nights, Get 1 Free promotion. The promotion runs from January 6, 2014 to April 13, 2014.
You get 1 free night after staying 3 nights at Club Carlson hotels during the “Stay 3, Get 1 Free“ promotion up to April 13, 2014.
Although Club Carlson is calling their promotion “Stay 3 Nights, Get 1 Free,” you don’t get a free night certificate which you can use at any Club Carlson hotel.
Instead, you get 38,000 Club Carlson points which is enough for a free night in a Category 1 to 4 hotel. 38,000 points will NOT get you a free night in a category 5 or 6 Club Carlson hotel.
So the promotion should really be called “Stay 3 Nights, Get 1 Free at 80% of our hotels!”
That said, I usually prefer earning points to free night certificates. That’s because I can use the points at any time, but usually have to use the free night certificates by a certain date.
Worth It Or Not?
Club Carlson’s top-tier Radisson Blu hotels cost 50,000 points, but some Country Inn and Park Inn hotels cost only cost 9,000 points a night.
There are lots of Country Inn hotels in the US and they are great when you need a room for a night or two.
If you already will be paying for 3 nights in a hotel up to April 13, 2014, you could consider staying in a Club Carlson hotel instead. Note that the 3 nights don’t have to be consecutive nights.
And you can then use those 38,000 points to stay in other Club Carlson hotels later on.
Or you could stay 1 night at the Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti for 38,000 points.
Club Carlson lets you buy up to 40,000 points per year for 7 cents each. So 38,000 points would cost $266 (38,000 Club Carlson points X 0.7 cents per point).
But I wouldn’t go out of my way for a mattress run, unless you needed just 1 night at a cheap price to get the 38,000 points bonus.
A mattress run is when you book a hotel so you can get elite stay credit or nights to meet a promotional requirement. Some folks stay the night while others just check-in and leave.
Using Club Carlson Points
If you have the Club Carlson card, you can get more value from this promotion. You get the last night of an award stay free when you redeem points for 2 or more nights.
So if you book a 2 night award stay, you only pay for 1 night!
Terms And Conditions
You can earn 38,000 Club Carlson points after staying 3 eligible nights between January 6, 2014 to April 13, 2014.
You have to pay an eligible rate which means that you have to pay cash and (usually) book directly from the Club Carlson website. This means that rates booked on other sites such as Pricline, Expedia etc. will not count towards the promotion. However, if your company books travel for you through a travel agent (say American Express travel), it usually does count towards the promotion.
Using points for awards, Points + Cash stays, or the free night from the Club Carlson card do not count towards eligible nights.
And you have to register for the promotion before checking out of your first eligible stay.
You can earn 38,000 points from the “Stay 3 Nights, Get 1 Free” Club Carlson promotion after staying for 3 nights at a Club Carlson hotel up to April 12, 2014.
If you have the Club Carlson card, you can effectively stretch those 38,000 points further.
