  1. On the fence about doing the personal/business cards. I understand why Starpoints are valuable but I don’t understand why 5,000 are worth all the coverage. An extra 5,000 airline miles, Cat 5 C&P redemption, is there any other compelling use of the extra points because those two aren’t? If the extra 5,000 were THAT important couldn’t you just do a quick BlueBird run?

  2. Matt! You’re right! You could just do a BB run for that extra 5k.
Now that we’re clear, get off the fence and signup! MMS doesn’t get paid for your BB runs.

  3. LOL, after how you shamelessly plagiarized FM and spammed your blog about bluebird, im sure most of the newbies here know of bluebird. The amount of pimping you have done because of the Oh so precious 5k additional miles is insane darius, shame on you.

  4. I have a question, I had my wife in my SPG personal and business accts, I closed my personal acct. my wife tried to sign up for this promo through ur link but received a msg that she was a previous card holder and she could only get 10k pts. I thought having the second card didn’t matter for that second card holder? What can we do? Have you heard of this before? She only has the Amex cash blue and that’s the only one that shows up on her credit report.

  6. I applied for the card last Tue., but the online status is still in progress. Should I be worried? Is the offer based on the date of approval or the date of application?

    • @JC – If she was a joint cardholder, she can’t get the bonus again. But if she was an authorized user, she should be able to get the bonus again.

@David – It is based from when you are approved, but there is a buffer built in to account for late approvals.

  7. Ganta! Easy boy. There’s no shame. It’s all mother in law approved.

  8. @ganta In some pockets of the world Bluebird has become quite difficult to fund. And for some people miles are a game/hobby of sorts so maximizing your score with the biggest offers brings satisfaction worth a fair bit more than the fiscal value of 5000 points.
