 2.   2,500 Miles Discount for American Airlines Redemption

Via View From the Wing, you can get 2,500 miles discount on your next American Airlines award redemption for entering their sweepstakes.

You have to enter the sweepstake, and will get a code to use for a discounted award redemption.

The terms are very limiting and say that you have to:

  • Redeem online, which limits you to flights on:
    • American Airlines
    • Airberlin
    • Alaska Airlines
    • British Airways
    • Finnair
    • Hawaiian Airlines
    • Qantas
  • Use the discount by July 24, 2013 for travel between September 4, 2013 & November 20, 2013

So this likely won’t be useful for most folks, but perhaps some can take advantage of it!

  1. FYI, many are not getting the instant points and instead getting a message saying the points will be credited by July 10th. To get around this, try and put the code into the Promotional Code section AFTER putting it in the Bonus Registration Code section and linking your Amazon account. Initially, you’ll get the standard your points will post by July 10th message but after inputting TYAMCAZON2 in the field in the Promotional Code section, you’ll get the instant 1k points. Who knows, maybe you will get another 1k points by July 10th for 2k total!

  2. I was able to get the 1000 points for both my own card and my husband’s by linking them to our one Amazon account. Thanks!

  4. Good call, Wedding Spend! I didn’t get the instant points when I signed up for this yesterday. Saw your message, went back in today and the points posted instantly. Thanks!

  5. Had the same thing happen – did not get the instant points until I went back and put it in the Promotional Code as well. Then the instant points posted!

  6. Hi, I click on the step and it took me to amazon but what do I do then? thanks

  7. I also got directed to Amazon instead of the instant 1,000 pt bonus, per D”s example. I linked from Amazon (easy enough). Still no points show. Then I went back to TY screen and entered the code in both Bonus Reg. and Promotion code boxes — clicked and got 1,000 pts. Darius, you may want to adjust your post.

  8. Citibank has the slowest websites. Can’t log into thankyou.com or citicards.com at all.

  9. Thanks. I believe another blogger posted this but I couldn’t get it to work. You made it very clear and the feedback was great. Thanks for your help, super !!

  10. Tried this yesterday and it didn’t work. Tried today and it did work. Since I no longer have a citi thank you premier card, I guess I will redeem my 1000 points for $10 off my next Amazon purchase.

  11. I got it! had to enter code in bonus code then again in promotion code and wham!

  12. @WeddingSpend, I also thank you for the tip.
