  1. hi, i have a question about the avios bonus points program. I was contemplating if I should wait for a better promotion to show up later in the year. Obviously no one knows if a better promotion will appear later in the year but I had a question regarding the MR points. If I close my amex account because of the membership fee will the MR points disappear as well? Is it possible for me to open another MR program card like amex plat and transferring the points?

  2. I just transferred 30k MR to Avios for a total of 40,500. The highest we have seen is 50%, so for me it would have been 45k instead of 40.5k not that much, so I guess if you are transferring a lot of MR then you may want to wait for but smaller amounts it is worth it and who knows if this is coming back ( Delta has not had any bonuses in 2 years, not that I care).

So I took the plunge. And BA is good about giving advance notice on mileage program changes.

  3. @steven – You won’t lose the points if you have another AMEX card which earns membership rewards points open. See this post for more details.

@jorge- 5K is not a material difference, so perhaps better to do it sooner rather than later.
