~$3+ Avis Weekend Car Rental

Mr. Pickles shares his experience using AVIS discount code TUEA002 to get a free car weekend rental.  You won’t always get the rental for $0, but ~$4+ for 2 weekend days is good enough for me!

It also could help to have a back-up plan just in case the rental is not honored by Avis.  Mr. Pickles had no issue with his rental, but things could change.

This coupon isn’t valid in Alaska, the New York Metro area, Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  It also isn’t valid for rentals after June 30, 2013.  However, I suspect the coupon will expire a lot sooner than June 30!

You can even enter your airline frequent flyer information to earn miles!  I entered my Southwest number for 600 points.

Step 1 – Go To Avis.com

Go to Avis.com and enter “TUEA002” in the “Coupon Code” field.

Free Avis Weekend Rental 3

Enter Coupon Code

Step 2 – Select Your Car

Select a car size from compact to full-size.  Don’t let the higher price earlier fool you because the rate will reduce on the final screen.

Select Your Car

Rate Will Reduce on Final Screen

If you see a choice between “Pay Later” or “Pay Now” select “Pay Later” so that you can cancel the booking later on if needed.  The final price is usually the same (with the 2 free weekend days) code.

Don’t forget to enter your airline frequent flyer information to earn more miles.

Step 3 – Confirm

Final Price = $3.81 For a Car Rental

Final Price = $3.81 For 2 Weekend Days Car Rental!

You will see the final lower price!

Bottom Line

This is a great deal and will save you money on a weekend rental!  Good luck and safe travels!

It also could help to have a back-up plan just in case the rental is not honored by Avis.  Mr. Pickles had no issue with his rental, but things could change.

  1. now that it is on MMS it will definitely die :p

  2. Thanks for the hat tip, looking forward to seeing you and Emily at FTU.

  3. With the airport locations, it gives $0

  4. If you click on the link above for the original article you can learn how I got a free 15 hour grace period also.

  5. *DEAD* coupon

  6. Thanks! just booked 7 weekends!

  7. Got it! 3.81USD. Thanks D

  8. Worked for Hawaii!

  9. Naturally, the location I need doesn’t participate….
Thanks for the tip all the same!

  10. Worked for me, thanks! 7:43 am e.t.

  11. Not working at multiple locations in the OC. Booked for an end of April weekend in DC (for the FTU) at around ~$41 for 3-days rental.

  12. Just reserved for $0.00!
    My confirmation says:
    FridayNight Stay is Required
    Return rental by Monday
    Checkout before 3PM Sunday
…is this attached to some hotel deal? Once I’ve reserved, is my rat confirmed? Thanks!

  13. *Rate*, not rat!

  14. Thanks Darius. I got 3 days for $30 at BNA.

  15. I got it for $15.81 in Atlanta.. Funny thought when I went back and tried to redo it with Ebates and Membership number it came up at $27.00.. Gonna clear my browser and try it again later.. see if it comes up cheaper.. Should I try a different car besides a compact. I guess I just pay there.. and Since the shuttle from Atlanta to Hotel is $25 and Parking is $22. I think the freedom of having a car is worth the parking. What do you think.

Thanks for Tip Mr Pickles and D.

  16. Darius, can you combine this with the recent Club Carlson promo???? Thanks for a GREAT blog!

  17. @Sapan – Nah…It will die when it hits slickdeals and fatwallet.

    @Joshua Pickles
    – Looking forward to seeing you too!

@Julia – I believe your rate is confirmed once you make the booking. But I’d check back to make sure that existing bookings were not cancelled.

@Carla – I usually prefer to have a car so that I can explore a city, but it depends on your travel plans.

    @Jim
    – Unfortunately not, since the coupon code for the Club Carlson promotion is different.

  18. Milwaukee Nick

Looks like it works for Montreal over Memorial Day weekend!

  19. Thanks for killing this one!

  20. Sorry, I should say “helping to kill this one.” You don’t deserve 100% of the blame.

  21. Works great!

I need to rent a car, picking it up on a Thursday and dropping it off on a Saturday evening. The coupon won’t work obviously because it requires a return on Sunday. What would happen if I booked to return the car on Sunday and dropped it off early?

  22. I’m finding 2 day rentals (Saturday morning to Monday morning) for which the coupon applies and reduces the cost to $0 + taxes. Don’t the T&C require a Friday night keep? Seems risky, as the rental counter could easily deny my coupon upon arrival, citing the T&C.

  23. @Dan, it could very easily get repriced upon return.

  24. it worked $2.07

  25. Daraius, Thanks again (and Mr. P) for another useful tip. Just changed our four day rental in June to one weekend rental then used the Chase portal (again another MMS tip) to book the previous two days. Netted about $70 savings.

  26. Thanks Daraius!! Keep up the great posts, I appreciate them. Please ignore the “haters” who complain when you “wreck” the promotions. I just saved over $70 for a weekend trip, didn’t get the $4 rental, but I’m very pleased with the rate I did secure.

  27. Works ..got $13 deal in Vegas

  28. @Wes – Rental car companies usually don’t let you combine rentals and may insist that you drive back to return the rental for the 1st 2 day and then pick up another car for the last 2 days. I’d check with them if you can combine reservations, or it may be worth it for $70 if you are close to the airport.

  29. Pauline Long

Thanks Daraius! I was able to get a few reservations with the coupon code.

  31. This seems to be a code for travel agents; the Travel Agent Only box is pre-filled with a specific number on the review page.

  32. Darn, doesn’t work for Miami airport in May for me. Comes out to $80 for three days.

  33. Thank you Mr. Pickles and Darius-not free but VERY cheap! FTU weekend 4 days-78.82 Weekend in Detroit to visit another ballpark 3 days 50.11 Now if someone can give me a tip on how to get a cheap rate driving from PHX to McCarran in Vegas. 5-28—-5/31 it would be greatly appreciated.

  34. Great thanks.. Books 2 day rental Memorial Day weekend $6.21!
Another angle you guys are not mentioning.. Added my wizard number and getting 500 united miles as well.

  35. How to add Southwest airline frequent flyer number?

  36. Deals don’t last here at mms :/

  37. Thanks for sharing. I was able to book a rental in Vegas for $13.46! Woohoo, saved $50!

  38. Thanks, Daraius. For those looking for one for the NYC area, the coupon works in Hoboken, NJ, which you can get to via a quick PATH then cab ride or a quick shot on the 126 bus.

  39. Are you sure a Friday night is required? I was able to book a Vegas rental starting on a Saturday morning and returning on Sunday evening.

  40. @Romsdeals!!!!
Dude, you posted today about a potential deal at Safeway! http://romsdeals.com/2013/03/26/15-off-two-50-visa-gift-cards-at-safeway-5-10-profit/
Please explain the difference between what MMS is doing, and what you are doing? Is it because of MMS has a ton of readers and you don’t? If so, does that mean once you get (possibly) a large readership base you are going to quit posting good deals?

    Thanks MMS for posting this!

  41. The underage driver fee always kills any car rental promotion for me.

    Thanks for the information.

  42. @Reader,

Clear difference. The Safeway deal is a publicly advertised promotion, and one that is clearly within the norms of promotions sometimes run by supermarkets, office supply stores, etc. Clearly limited to one per household, as well.

With Avis, here is a coupon code that is clearly in error, in that it was probably meant for a very targeted audience or with certain limitations, but is actually able to be applied by ANYONE with NO RESTRICTIONS. Reasonable person test dictates that obviously Avis did not intend to give nationwide free rentals. It may have stayed under the radar for a little while (as it has for weeks up until now), but posts like these clearly, and without debate, hasten the demise of the “deal”.

  43. Code seem to be corrected by Avis.. no longer showing under $5 for weekend.. but a discount of $100 for 2 day weekend now. ; (

  44. THE HORNEY TRAVELER

thanks for sharing great tips for your loyal readers.
    THE HORNEY TRAVELER says:

I am starting a new blog shortly, called THE HORNEY TRAVELER. It is about finding broads abroad…….. My first piece which I am writing right now, is about hooking up with foreign chicks who don’t speak a lick of English, only the language of love. It’s going to be a very touching piece, keep your eyes open for THE HORNEY TRAVELER, coming soon to a computer screen near you.

  45. What happens if we just need the car for one day? If we return within the first 24 hours, would there be penalty?

  46. @James, Sorry, I should have been more clear in my first comment. In the comment section of Romsdeals post, he indicates that “I will post an article about Amazon Payments this week, I promise! Thanks for reading”.

It just seems slightly hypocritical for Romsdeals to bag on MMS about posting deals that are not public, but then states he will post about AP. Yes, I get that AP has been around for awhile, and will continue to be around even after Romsdeals posts about it. But it’s like saying, “don’t post about your “deal” (Avis), but I will post about my “deal” (AP).

  47. Thanks. It worked for SLC. Booked for this weekend.

  48. Where do you put your airline FF info? I don’t see any location to do that – must be blind…

  49. Ok I played a little more around with this.. Different reservations. Just prior to checkout it quoted estimated miles earned as:
    Aadvantage 1500
    Mileageplus 500
    SPG 500
    Gold passport 500
    Dividend miles 500

But after booking and paying for the reservation, the confirmation email shows a different number.
    Aadvantage changes to 250
    Mileageplus 50
    Spg N/A
    Gold passport N/A
    Dividend miles 50

    Anybody else experience this?
datapoint: I am triple dipping from dividend miles storefront

  50. Robert Hanson

Thought for sure this would be dead by now, but no, just reserved Sat p/u Monday return for $0.00. Complete with US Air miles. Clearly a mistake and not sure if it’s ethical to keep this, since Avis has always been very nice to me.

  51. Great deal. Headed to San Francisco for 1 year anniversary in June and wasn’t going to reserve a car at all (6 days) until I saw this. Great deal! Thanks

$0.00 total for Full size, Saturday and Sunday
Pickup next to my hotel in Union Square

  52. Of course, if you use Avis Preferred, the following language comes up in the T & C’s for that program:

“7. Unauthorized use of discount codes

Avis issues discount codes to individuals or authorized entities for their sole use. By entering into this enrollment profile you represent you have the express authorization of Avis to use such code(s). Any other use will be viewed as an unlawful use and theft of services for which Avis reserves the right to remove any discount code information from your profile(s) and/or rental(s), in addition to refusal to rent to you and can pursue legal remedies including but not limited to reasonable attorneys fees and costs.”

    Good luck, Y’all…

  53. @THE HORNEY TRAVELER

Are you kidding? Keep that filth to yourself.

  54. Holy crap, I just rented a full-size for two days in MSP for $1.49. I love you Million Mile Secrets.

  55. THANKS. While I didn’t get the super low rate, it did take my $180 3 night weekend rental (Fri-Mon) down to $98 at Bradley (BDL). Still a GREAT discount

  56. Awesome booked it for $1.91 at boston

  57. Booked for this weekend actually! :) TUL had it for $10.68 and getting 500 miles for my Krisflyer account hehe 😉

  58. I booked a bunch from the same location and got confirmation, think they’ll honor it?

  59. Alex (@NoviceFlyer)

Hmm weird..when I put in myFF info it says FTP miles have not been applied to car rental. Does that mean it won’t give me miles after?

  60. Book 2 weekend days @ SNA (Orange County John Wayne Airport), $0.00.
Not sure Avis will honor it but what the heck.

  61. Worked for me, $1.34.

  62. Thanks a lot! Just booked 5 weekend rentals in my neighborhood location in NJ for ~$13 each. I don’t own a car here, thus I was planning to rent anyway, so, if honored, that would be a super-huge saving!!!

  63. Just booked MKE for $44, 3 days! Not free, but cheap :)

  66. Daraius,
thanks again for the avis tip..what SEPARATES (well) MMS from other travel bloggers is your very clearly give the tip then outline steps to use–kudos.

our rental is two separate rentals not one (Dollar for first two days using UR points (5500 woo hoo), then Avis) so no worries about combining rentals, but thanks for the reminder.

    r/wes

one blog topic u might consider since your readers all have to get to the airport and back home is best deals for transport to airport and back from airport and then also best deals on parking at the airport

  67. This comment has been posted before but nobody has answered yet…I can’t seem to figure out how to add FF number, where are you guys doing that at?

  68. “thanks again for the avis tip..what SEPARATES (well) MMS from other travel bloggers is your very clearly give the tip then outline steps to use–kudos.”

LOL, yeah. That certainly is what separates him!

  69. @Nick – It is on page 3 of 4 in the reservation process.

  70. Booked for Vancouver with code. Works….only 8 CAD! Hopefully all pans out. Thanks to everyone!

  71. Looks like it is done here in CA. A message shows up saying that you must present the coupon in person at the sales counter. Boooooooo!

  72. The most important part of the post is the recommendation to have a back-up plan. That’s always a good suggestion when you know you are doing something which, if it were YOUR business, you would simply not honor. Businesses don’t survive when they don’t make money. The “grab and go” mentality will eventually give consumers fewer choices and higher prices. Don’t complain when the scenario you helped create happens.

  73. Not sure if this is still working. I keep getting “This coupon can not be applied to online reservations. Please present this coupon at the counter.” no matter what weekend dates I use for Boston. Any one else getting this?

  74. I made my reservation, but with a deal this good, there has got to be a catch right? I’m just worried we are going to get there and they not accept it. Has anyone picked up a car with this deal?

  75. Thanks a Million! (bad pun intended) I made a reservation last night and worked no problem! Great find, as always.

Went in today – deal is dead!

  76. Hey D…I think this deal is dead. Just tried to book a car for Orlando and it gave me the same response as J. “This coupon can not be applied to online reservations. Please present this coupon at the counter.”

  77. @corinne – Thanks! I updated the post.

  78. I tried to book for Boston too and I get the same error as J “This coupon can not be applied to online reservations….”.

  79. It says cannot be used online? will it work if we go in ?

  80. Well, if Avis requires us to present the coupon when picking up the car, this could cause all sorts of problems. Can someone post about their experiences picking up a car this weekend? I have a reservation for three weekends from now, but haven’t cancelled my reservation with a different car company, because I’m skeptical that Avis won’t charge a different rate. Even Mr. Pickles had some trouble getting it to work before the deal blew up.

  81. I’m sorry but this code seems to be for an elite group of Avis members. Just because someone tells you it is available does not mean you are qualified to use it.

    http://www.avis.com/car-rental/content/display.ac?contentId=avis-first-faq-US_en-005364#5

I would think AVIS would be able to tell if you actually deserve to use the code based on your Wizard number and rental history.

  82. Greg, I’m not sure if this experience is relevant, but in Europe I routinely use Europcar First coupon code for all my rentals and it gives me up to 30% discount from the lowest price available online. Technically it is also intended for First members (and I am personally not) and, again, technically they have a right to request a First membership card at the counter. Nonetheless, I’ve never had any troubles using this code before it was gone – now system simply does not accept this code unless you have a respective status and book under your username.
I might be wrong (hope I’m not though), but if the system allowed to make such reservations, it would normally be a matter of principle for the company to honor it as negative publicity might cost it much more than potential losses from those rentals. Just some recent examples – Alitalia f***up some time ago that led to some people buying tickets from the US to Europe or Asia for $1.00 – as far as I know, in the end Alitalia honored all tickets that customers paid at least something for (there were also tickets that were priced at $0.0 that company has cancelled).
I just think Avis will be aggressively upselling additional services with those reservations (like LDW, roadside protection etc). If they e.g. make LDW mandatory for those rentals, that will already let them at least break even for sure (as they charge $25 a day for it)…

    Though it’s just my IMO…

  83. Greg – What you posted indicated that the “Weekend Rental Deal” for Avis First members is only valid on group C (intermediate) through E (full-size). The code worked on groups A & B (Subcompact and Economy) as well, so I’m not sure that it’s the same thing.
It would be interesting to see where the code actually came from (who it does apply to) and whether or not it’s being honored at check-in.

  84. I was able to make two reservations using the code yesterday. However, today, when I entered my confirmation code (from my email reservation) into the Avis site, it said ‘this reservation has been cancelled’. This happened for both of my reservations. So I think they automatically canceled it. On another blog, I read that perhaps if you had pre-paid, then the reservation may still be valid. All I know is that this deal seemed too good to be true and Avis won’t honor it. I suggest everyone who made reservations check their confirmation code against Avis’ because they never emailed me to tell me they cancelled it. At least I’m not finding this out at the pick-up counter!

  85. ALL RESERVATIONS CANCELLED. I had four “pay at the counter” reservations, and one “prepaid” reservation. I attempted to log into each of my reservations tonight, only to find out that they ALL had been cancelled. Furthermore, for the “prepaid” reservation, a $25 cancellation fee has been deducted from the amount being refunded to my card.

I’ve sent an email into Avis trying to get the $25 refunded to me as well. But, it’ll be 24 hours till I get a response.

  86. Upon review of your recent reservation,XXXXXXX, it has come to our attention that the discount code you have entered is invalid, and so your reservation has been tentatively cancelled. 101. Avis brings you great deals on products and services in the following categories: Car Rental and more. Just use this coupon code to get great deals and free days you can get rentals for as low as $2. A day… use awd code z353029 and coupon code TUEA002
