[Emily and I earn NO referral or commission for the Chase Priority Club card. But we both have this card and will gladly pay the $49 annual for the free annual night and other perks.]

Emily and I both love our Chase Priority Club credit card!
Priority Club is the hotel loyalty program of InterContinental Hotel Group which includes Candlewood Suites, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Hotel Indigo, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, and Staybridge Suites brand hotels.
I’ve always been surprised at how little publicity the Chase Priority Club card gets compared to other hotel cards (I’m looking at you, American Express Starwood card) which offer far fewer benefits for keeping the card beyond the 1st year.
Emily and I both gladly pay the $49 annual fee for our Chase Priority Club cards.
Why?
Because the 80,000 point sign-up bonus after the 1st purchase was great, and the 1 free night after the 1st year of having the card more than makes up for the annual fee.
This free night is valid in any InterContinental hotel. Emily and I just redeemed our free night at the InterContinental Thalasso in Bora Bora. The Priority Club card is one of the best cards for getting free hotel stays in French Polynesia because there is 1 InterContinental each in Moorea and Tahiti and 2 InterContinental hotels in Bora Bora.
We can basically have the hotel cost covered for a free weekend or 2-day trip covered just by having this card!
Keeping this card also builds our history with Chase (we’ve set our Netflix subscription to automatically renew on the card).
Plus the card also offers top-tier Platinum status with Priority Club and no foreign transaction fees for using the card outside the US. Not to mention a 10% rebate on Priority Club points redeemed during the year.
The only drawback of the card is that it isn’t a great card for spending money on because the earning rate is weak compared to either other hotel cards like the Hyatt or Starwood card, or the Chase Sapphire Preferred.
For most folks who don’t spend much on credit cards and aren’t Big Spenders, the Chase Priority Club card is a much better card to keep than the American Express Starwood Preferred Guest card.
As I wrote in my previous post - The AMEX SPG Credit Card is Overrated & Not Worth its Annual Fee to Me, But I’ll Still Get it – get the Starwood card for the sign-up bonus, but pay the annual fee for the Chase Priority club card to get a free hotel night each year!
Chase Priority Club Review – Pros
1. 80,000 point Sign-up Bonus. You get 80,000 Priority Club points as a sign up bonus after your 1st purchase which is great if you’re working on minimum spending requirements on other cards.
You can buy Priority Club points for 0.7 cents using the Cash & Points Trick, so the sign-up bonus is worth $560 (80,000 points X 0.7 cents per point) to me.
There is another offer for 60,000 points, but you usually get the 80,000 point offer if you sign-up for Priority Club email or by using the link in this FlyerTalk post.
Top Tier InterContinental hotels cost 30,000 to 50,000 points, whereas Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inns go for 10,000 to 25,000 points a night.
2. Free Annual Night. The best perk of the Chase Priority Club card is that you get a free night certificate by email each year after your 1st year of having the card. The certificate is valid for 1 year from when it is issued and the stay must be completed before the certificate expires.
This free night is valid at ANY Priority Club hotel (unlike Hyatt or Marriott which restrict their free night to lower category hotels) – including the expensive InterContinental hotels. Emily and I redeemed our certificates for 2 free nights at the InterContinental Thalasso where the rooms start at ~$800 a night! Not bad for paying only a $49 fee, right?
Here’s a list of InterContinental hotels around the world. But you can get much more than $49 value, even if you don’t redeem it at an InterContinental hotel.
For example, there are Holiday Inns which cost ~$250 in New York, London and other expensive cities. Or use the free nights at the Z Ocean hotel in Miami or anwhere where you can save money by not paying for a hotel night.
You can use your free night certificate in any hotel as long as there is an award night available on the Priority Club website. Just call 877-318-5890 to redeem your free night.
Emily and I value the free night at ~$250 based on our redemption goals, so it is a no-brainer to keep the card for only a $49 fee and get a free hotel night without another credit inquiry.
3. 10% Points Rebate. You get 10% of your points back after completing an award stay. For example, you would get 2,500 points back after a 1-night stay at a Holiday Inn costing 25,000 points.
The rebate is capped at 100,000 points in a calendar year, so you’d have to redeem 1 million points in a year to hit the cap!
4. Free Platinum Elite Status. You get Priority Club’s top-tier Platinum elite status which gets you a 50% points bonus on paid stays and upgrades subject to availability.
The terms of the Priority Club program say that elite benefits don’t have to be provided on award stays (quite a nasty policy), but in my experience, most hotels outside the US do provide some benefits on award stays. We got upgraded to a higher category room when we stayed at the Holiday Inn in Phi Phi Thailand.
But Priority Club Platinum status is somewhat inconsistently recognized in the US, in my experience.
Also note that Priority Club Platinum status is not recognized at InterContinental hotels which have their own Ambassador loyalty program.
5. No Foreign Transaction Fee. There is no foreign transaction fee, which saves ~3%, when you use the card outside the US.
6. 2X points on gas, restaurants & groceries & 5 X points on Priority Club hotels. This isn’t a great card for regular spending, and you can do better than 2X points on other cards.
For example, you get 2X points for dining with the Chase Sapphire Preferred, and I value 2 Chase Ultimate Rewards points more than I do 2 Priority Club points.
But it is a close call when it comes to using the Priority Club card at Priority Club hotels, since 5 Priority Club points could be worth, at least, the same as 2 Ultimate Rewards points.
7. First Year Annual Fee Waived. The $49 annual fee is waived for the first year.
8. Lots of Priority Club Hotels. Priority Club has far more hotels than Starwood or Hyatt, which means that you can usually count on having a Priority Club hotel in the places you want to visit.
Some may scoff at staying in a Holiday Inn or Staybridge Suites, but I’ve had many great stays at Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inns, which were made even better at the thought of having Big Travel with Small Money!
Chase Priority Club Review - Cons
1. Not Good for Everyday Spending. As I explained in #5 above, this card isn’t great for putting your actual spending on – even with the category bonuses for gas, restaurants, and groceries.
2. Occupies a Chase Slot. This isn’t a drawback, but more of an inconvenience. Many folks run up against a maximum of 4 or 5 personal cards with Chase. Sure, some folks manage to have more than that, but many readers run-up against a limit.
Emily and I have chosen to keep our Priority Club card open for as long as the free night makes it worthwhile. At the same time, we build a relationship with Chase by having one card open for a long period of time.
At some point, you’ll have to decide whether to keep your Priority Club card open. For us, it is an easy decision to keep a card open which gets us at least a $250 value every year (in the form of the free night & 10% points redemption) without needing another credit inquiry.
Bottom Line
I can think of very few reasons why you wouldn’t want to get this card and pay the annual fee on it.
The one free night each year makes this a great card with which to have Big Travel with Small Money!

I have earned and redeemed millions of airline miles and hotel points to travel the world for free.   Now I'm blogging to help more people do the same!

“NO referral or commission for the Chase Priority Club card.”
I think I know why this card receives such little publicity
If you don’t mind me asking, which Chase personal cards do you hold? I have 3 personal ones at the moment and I might be able to sneak in a 4th by shifting around credit lines. I’m trying to time my next Chase app to come closer to when my next Chase annual fee is due.
i love this card as well, think it is a great starter card for someone new to this hobby, and have always been pissed at the complete lack of attention bloggers give it. i have always suspected it was because they had no profitable link to share, and now that seems to be the case.
i am now less likely to click on links at other blogs, and more likely to reward your blog with my card application click in the future.
I have the Priority Club card. Got it with the 80K signup back 1.5 yrs ago. In addition to the free night every year for the $49 annual fee that was mentioned in the article, there is another very nice feature of PC. What I use the points the most is the 5K/night Pointsbreak specials when they come out. There can be some very nice Intercontinentials that occasionally appear on the Pointsbreak list but are in some odd places. (Manila, Egypt, etc).
Most of my redemptions have been on the 5K/night pointsbreak list. One night would cost the equivalent of $35 (actually $31.50 with the 10% rebate with the CC). That figure assumes one knows how to replenish the points for $70/10K pts. For me, the Pointsbreaks redemptions work well for me. Also, paying up to 40K pts for expensive IC hotels can be a great value.
Bottom line: Redeeming 5K pts/night on Pointbreaks is a great value. There are some very nice IC properties in the USA if one does not have plans to go overseas.
Thanks for the post. Does the annual free night certificate have t be redeemed within one year or some other limited time period?
My understanding is that most Priority club properties do not include free breakfast with paid or award stays which can be a big dent in your budget. Did I get that right?
@AK – Ask away! I have the Chase Ink Bold, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase BA, Chase Priority Club & Chase Hyatt. Emily has 2 Chase Ink Bolds, 2 United cards, 1 British Airways, 1 Priority Club & 1 Freedom. On my last application, the rep wanted me to cancel a card to get approved, but I hung up and called back and the new rep pushed it through after reducing the credit limit.
@jimmy cakes @AK - I do think the SPG card has the better sign-up bonus, though. You can do more with 25K or 30K SPG points than with 80K Priority Club points, but keeping the Priority Club card after the 1st year makes the most sense for most folks.
@chemist661 – The PointsBreak list is another great feature of the Priority Club program!
@Eddy – You have to complete your stay within 1 year of issue. I updated the post to mention that.
@caveman – You do get free breakfast at Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge suites, but will have to pay for it at other brands
I heard, and correct me if I am wrong here, that you can also purchase Ambassador membership with certain amount of PC points.
80,000 points X 0.7 cents per point = $560, not $480
@Kalboz – You can redeem points to get or renew Ambassador status!
@Darpan - Duh. I fixed it – thanks!
Thanks for sharing your chase cards with us. I see no love for Marriott. I heard it is also a keeper for the annual free stay which covers more than the annual fee. How come you are missing Marriott?
I cancelled mine but regret it. Should I wait until a “churn” opportunity comes up with another bonus? How long do I have to wait with Chase?
Darius, you should do a big overview comparison of the Marriott, Hyatt, and Priority Club credit cards.
“80,000 point Sign-up Bonus. You get 80,000 Ultimate Rewards points” Shouldn’t this read Priority Club points?
@caveman – Ideally, I’d get all 3, but would rather have some “free slots” for future Chase cards. The Marriott is worth keeping for the free night, but it is restricted to lower category hotels and expires in 6 months instead of 1 year.
@Joseph – I don’t know if you will get the sign-up bonus again, but could try with a new Priority Club number
@Grant – That’s a great idea for a future post, but I don’t know when I can get to it. My ranking is the Priority Club card, followed by the Hyatt card, followed by the Marriott card.
@Nick – Thanks. I really shouldn’t write posts at 1:00 am!
I had this card but had to trade the credit for another card in order to get approved for that card. This is inevitable when you are churning Chase cards.
I saw your response @Joseph — I had a similar question. Is that your general experience with churning — if it is for a hotel/airline specific program, you won’t get the sign-up again?
can I use my husbands award certificate that he recieved when he reached his 1 yr?? I will be traveling without him and wanted to use the free night,
Chase will only give 10000 points to upgrade your existing priority card to the paid version. If i get a new pc account number, can the points be merged or just keep them separate?
I’m love this blog.
I just recently got the Priority Club card and it’s great to read about it right away.
I can’t wait to see your reviews of all those hotel cards because I was debating on what to get next.
I also want to know what Chase cards to have because it seems like everyone will work for me.
I wanted to get the CSP but can’t reach the minimum spend so might opt out and get the Freedom instead just to build up my Ultimate Rewards points and access the Ultimate Rewards Mall online in preparation for the CSP =]
This card is definitely on my list for my next set of applications. I already have 4 personal Chase cards (and don’t want to cancel any yet!) so hopefully they’ll give it to me. Shifting credit around wouldn’t be a problem for me.
As a side note, because of the trick to buying points for $0.007, you should never transfer UR points to Priority Club: it’s fewer UR points to buy the PC points with Points+Cash and then just use your UR points for a statement credit. 10000 PC points for 7000 UR points, or if you don’t need that many, 5000 PC points for 4000 UR points. Either way, it doesn’t make sense at all to transfer the points directly. I suppose if you need 3000 PC points or less, maybe…
It was an even better card a year ago, when you could get a lot of mid-level hotel rooms for $60 + 5000 points (Points+cash option) with no additional taxes. We stayed four nights in Paris for that. Since then (actually before we went to Paris, but after we reserved the room), they have inflated their points+cash redemption levels.
Nonetheless, it’s still a keeper, especially with Priority Club’s point breaks and their generous point bonus rules for opportunistic point seekers. I have been using it for work travel lately (wasn’t expecting to when I got the card). By focusing on Priority Club, I was able to rack up way more points than I would have expected, with only about 7 retail nights stayed, and now they treat me like some kind of a big shot.
For example, I used points this summer at a Points Break hotel for both my own family and a friend, and we were both upgraded to suites. Not bad at all for 5000 points per room per night.
I have this card. I am using 30,000 points for a 6 night stay in New England in October. This was the only way I could afford the trip right now. I am not a hotel snob so a Holiday Inn Express will do for me. I plan on keeping the card and trying to use the free night at the Inter Continenal in NYC and seeing a Broadway show.
@Lynn: nothing to be ashamed of. Free breakfast and (usually) free parking and internet.
which IHG hotels come with free internet so i remember that when booking?
I just wanted to point out that I like this blog so much that I now pass all my new credit card aps through this site.
Well done Darius.
does anyone know if you can use the free night cert to book a free night for someone besides yourself (in case you cant use it or you’re trying to sell it)?
@Andrew Schroeder – It depends and varies by bank. For Chase, you can get the bonus for a new product (e.g. Southwest Plus vs. Southwest Premier).
@lana – No personal experience, but he can book the room and add you as the 2nd guest on the reservation so that you can check-in by yourself.
@Corey – It is wise to skip applying for a card if you can’t meet the minimum spending. Which cards to apply for depend on where you want to redeem the hotel points.
@alan – Ha! I actually have a draft post on that coming soon.
@Bottom-Feeding the High Life (zzd) – And whom may those “opportunistic point seekers.” be?!
@Lynn - As @Bottom-Feeding the High Life commented, there is nothing wrong with free breakfast and parking at a Holiday Inn Express!
@Corey - I believe it varies, but in my experience most Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites & Candlewood Suites have free breakfast and mostly free internet.
@Anne – Thanks! That is very kind of you.
@dyhppy - I wouldn’t suggest selling it, but you should be able to add someone else to the reservation who can check-in before you.
If you have an upcoming award night on points, you can can redeem your free night certificate and have the points deposited back into your account. This is nice if you have already have award nights booked.
Can I trade Priority Club points for Southwest miles to be counted toward a companion pass? I thought that I read that these will count toward CP status. Thank you.
My wife and I have this card and we love the free night each year at any hotel. I use it usually in NYC because the hotels cost more there than really any other place. Even a Holiday inn express can cost $300 a night there.
When I call I tell the agent we both have the card and we want to book back to back nights in the same room.
The last time I called they told me the hotel I wanted only had beck to back nights in a room with a roll-in shower but we I took it. It works for me.
This IHG hotel chain really doesn’t have great benefits for platinum members. So that’s why you get it for free probably with the card. They don’t often offer to upgrade often.
The hotels in NYC usually give you some cheesy welcome gift but I ‘ll take what I can get.
Since they don’t offer and free breakfast like hilton or marriot to gold/platinum members I usually pick holiday inn express or staybridge suites.
This helps keep my costs down.
I don’t really use the card ofr any of my expense but will keep it as long as they still give the free night.
Anyone have experience with how long you waited after your 1st year is up to get the free night certificate? I was approved for the card in early April 2012 with first statement closed April 25, 2012. I need the free night for my honeymoon in Bora Bora mid-late May (flights already booked). To play safe, should I book the lowest level room (I suppose the free night only gets you coral suite?) now at the refundable rate and cancel if I get the certificate in time? Any advice helps!
@Kristy
I would get the room booked with points and swap it for the certificate when you get it.
@kristy
I didn’t read your post fully before responding. If you don’t have points, I would book a room you can cancel. I would book the emarald though as they would probably keep you in that room the entire time since you paid for it.
@Corridor!
Thanks for the advice! I don’t have enough points (used them all to book the other nights) so using points isn’t an option. Folks in FT said that the free night comes from the same availability bucket as award nights that’s why I don’t know if booking emerald or coral (refundable rate) would be a better bet. FYI I am doing a points + free night + BOGO combination for the entire stay and will pay for sapphire using BOGO, hoping to get to stay in at least emerald the whole time (plus I paid for ambassador).
Another option – “buy” another 50k points at $350 to hold the award availability… thoughts?
@dave s - Unfortunately, you can’t trade Priority Club points for Southwest points.
@Kristy – We both got emails about a month before our anniversary reminding us that we would get a free night. The free night email came right around our anniversary, though you can always call and ask if has been applied to your account. The free night books uses the same inventory as award nights, so booking a revenue room doesn’t mean that you can swap it for a free night! If you’re paying for Sapphire with the BOGO, I’d ask to remain in the Sapphire the entire time.
@Kristy
Here is my experience on the yearly certificate. I applied and was approved on 2/26/11. I received an email on 2/28/12 telling me that my yearly certificate was available and to call 1-877-318-5890. The email said that the certificate expires on 2/26/13. I would call the phone number I provided one year after you applied or were approved.
Here are my thoughts based on the info you gave. I read the entire thread from Flyertalk prior to leaving. If, I go back I am considering using the BOGO (Ambassador) w/ award nights. There are only three coral suites at the resort. I would believe this to mean that they only allow three award nights on any night. The nightly certificate does come from the same bucket as the points nights.
Since you applied for the card in early April, You will likely get the free night in early April of next year. The problem is that your vacation is only about a month and half away from when you should receive the certificate. That is leaving a lot to chance when there are only three rooms available for award nights. My wife and I went this past May and the resort was sold out.
-You could book a refundable rate for the coral suite and cancel it when you receive your certificate. Then you could cancel the room and hope that the coral suite is opened up to be booked with points. This is a risk though. You could try and experiment with this.
Find a night in the future that only has one coral suite available for points. Then you book a refundable night and hold on to it for a few days. Once a few days go by, see if award nights are available. If they still aren’t available, cancel the room and see if an award night opens up. Even if you confirm this happens, you can’t guarantee it will happen when you do it next April.
-You could also do as you say and purchase the points for $350 and be certain that you get the room now. Then you can use your certificate and get your points back.
-It also never hurts to have a room reserved that you can cancel or stay at another property for one night. (I am not sure how the transfer cost works though. I am hoping Daraius will give us this information as he stayed at the Hilton and the Thalasso.)
I hope this helps.
Thanks for the post mate. Quick question: The annual free night that you talked abt, does that have an expiry date on it i.e. does it need to be used by a certain time or can one keep accumulating those year on year?
Thanks,
Manzil
Is it possible to combine points between e.g. spouses?
Just got back from Europe. I didn’t use my Priority Club points at the Holiday Inn Express on the outskirts of London, since the AAA cost was only $135 a night, including free wifi and breakfast. But I did use my signup points at the InterContinetal in Bruges Belgium, which charges an outrageous $350 a night for a standard room. Being one of the few hotels in Bruges with an elevator and A/C, and located one block from the historic town square, they get away with it. Since I booked last March, before the hotel went from 25K to 35K a night, my 75K points got us 3 nights worth over a $1000.
Being Platinum just from having the card, they upgraded us to a huge two room suite with a view of the park and town hall, which sells for nearly $500 a night, without even having to ask. No, no free breakfast, but hotel breakfasts are rarely all that good. Spend $10 each for breakfast at a local cafe and get something as good or better.
Knowing that a $49 annual fee will get us each a free night in a suite worth $500 means we will both be keeping this card. I only regret that Chase won’t let us each get multiple Priority cards {sigh}.
@Manzil Kohli – You have to complete your stay within 1 year of receiving the pass.
@D – Unfortunately, you can’t combine points for free.
@Robert Hanson – Sounds like a great upgrade!
@Corridor!
Thanks for your detailed reply! I would definitely book a flexible rate for that night as back up to make sure I at least have a room to stay. At the same time I’m asking families / friends to see if they have some extra points on hand that could be used to hold the award night for me until I get the cert in April.
@Darius
Thank you for the advice! Btw great post as always
I understand the value of the free night, although one free night isn’t that great a bargain if you have to pay for the second night to make it a weekend trip. (I would never pay $800 for a night at a hotel even if the first night is free. Actually, the most I would pay is about $150/night if the first night is free. )
Is there’s a chart that shows specifically how many points certain hotels cost in specific locations? I noticed Holiday Inn can range from 10k to 25k–that’s a big spread. For example, on Starwood 10k is a pretty nice hotel or expensive destination.
@CheapTrickstoTravel - Your partner could get the card as well, so together you’ve got enough points for a free weekend trip. You can make dummy award bookings on the Priority Club website to see how much an individual hotel would cost.
But the important question is did you get an upgrade to over-water in BOB?
Does the rebate come right away, after you stay, or later in the year?
Thanks!
ABOUT UPGRADES: I have been a Pri CLub member for 14 years and a Platinum member for at leats the last 6. Twoa years ago I reveived a personal note from the “topDog” that I was in teh top 10% of all members. I usually stay at least 35 to 45 night s per year. Now as for upgrades – THEY ARE NOT MANDATORY for any of the hotels. This to me is one shortfall f the program. However, I do get recognized at most hotels and usually get some type of “bennie”. May be only a bottle of water, but at some I get extra pointsd, at other an upgrade (which I really dont care about when I travel alone), or free breakfas at the no-HI expresses. It is up to the individual hotels as to give something or not. The best thing we all can do is REPORT the hotels that do not recognize and provided at the offer of an upgrade. If they dont make them give you a voucher for breafast or a few drinks in the lounge or a discount coupon for a local restaurant. As ROy and Dale used to say “Happy Trails”….
I also must add in that with all my points ( I am sitting on over 400,000 right now) I normally only stay at Crowne Plazas !!!!!
ALSO keep in mind that the PriClub program is NOT administered the same for international (non-US) properties. Different ballgame– differfent ball……. and different rules.
@Bill – The rebate usually posts to my account a few weeks after we complete our stay.
@Monty - Thanks for the comments! You’re right that the room upgrades is subject to availability, so it really is at the individual hotel’s discretion. There’s also no free breakfast or internet for top tier customers, so it is weaker than other hotels’ loyalty programs.
I will say that I have gotten upgrades every once in a while. The CP in New Orleans is pretty good about that. And also have gotten a breakfast ticket at many places… BUT….. NOT AT ALL PLACES. My feeling is that YOU HAVE TO ASK….sometimes the desk personnel get swamped and dont realize that the perosn is a PriCLib member let alone a Platinum Member. Again I reiterate YA GOTTA ASK …..and then wite them up if they dont give you anything. If enough members did that then that particular hotel might see a reduction in their occupancy rate from PriCLub Members not staying there.

I just applied for and got the chase priority card — I notice that on the link
it doesn’t mention the 80k points — but i just found a link that mentions 60k points — i will receive the card in a week. Any suggestions — ? Not sure what the points will be.
Thanks.
-gil
@groeder – You should get the 80K points. If you prefer seeing the offer listed on the page, you can try for the 60K version.
Just got my card by applying by the link for 80,000 bonus points through this unpublished offer mentioned in the poat. Called to acctivate and got a confirmation about 80000 bonus points after the first purhase. First year $49 fee waived. One obzervation: the application URL is not a chase bank URL. I was not approved right on the spot. I received a call from 1-800-278-8830 tool free number (not a Chase bank number but 3rd party verification company) to confirm my identity. Had to answer couple of questions similar to questions asked by Credit Report Agency. Got my card 5 days later.
@deWeb – Thanks for the update!

Does anyone have two PC cards? I’m wondering if we get two free nights by having two cards.
@Anh – I believe it is hard to get 2 cards with the same Priority Club number, but you could get one for a partner/family member and have 2 free nights.
Does the Chase Priority Club card require that you carry a balance?
Do you know how long it takes for the points to expire? Can you transfer them to your regular priority club account and leave them there indefinitely?
@Melissa – No, you don’t have to carry a balance and shouldn’t!
@Lorien – The points automatically go into your Priority Club account and they don’t expire.

So, i ran into an issue today trying to book a room at the Holiday Inn in Honolulu over July 4th weekend. The hotel imposes minimum stay requirements….i wanted to book 2 nights w/ points and 1 with my free cert, and PC claims it can’t be done on one reservation and thus impossible to book. Seems like I am abiding by all the rules – 3 night min stay (2 points, 1 cert) but they claim no way around….any thoughts/help?
@Paul – I haven’t heard of minimum stay requirements on award bookings, but perhaps you can try booking 1 night at a time or does it not work that way? If it doesn’t work, the best course could be to just book all 3 nights using points.
I think its specifically this property/holiday period, but an unusual obstacle nonetheless. I will end up booking with points, but unfortunate that the cert can’t be used
Is the Priority Club 80k points bonus still available?
@Tsui – I believe it is still available.
Darius,
Awesome website! I’ve been visiting a lot lately, trying to plan my honeymoon to Bora Bora. I have a question (or, your advice) regarding the Free Annual Night. I opened my Priority Club card in June 2012. We plan to take our honeymoon the first week of September. So – I obviously need to book before June! However, I would really like to use the Free Night certificate that I will receive in June. What is your recommendation? Could I book using points, then possibly call in to use the certificate for one of the nights and get my points (for one night) back?
@Billy – Thanks for reading and congratulations! You have to use the free night certificate within 12 months from when you get it, so you can’t book a stay beyond 12 months from when the certificate was issued. But you could book 1 night using points and then hope that another night is still available or call and ask if they can switch the reservation.
I love this card … we spent two free nights (we both have a card!) at the Intercontinental Montreal in Sept … just steps from the old city and the gorgeous catherdal! We were upgraded to an upper floor too!
@charlene - That sounds like a good use of the free nights!
Darius, Thanks for all the info….I was wondering how you felt about paying for Ambassador status? Working on a trip to Tahiti, Moorea. I have the 80k pts and will have a few more from a trip to Japan at a IHG hotel, I believe the Ambassador status doesn’t do me any good at IHG? is that true? but at IHG hotels and resorts it does. any thoughts?
@robin – Technically Ambassador status is not eligible on award stays so it doesn’t help. In practice, you may get better treatment than someone who bought a vacation package etc. But I wouldn’t expect an upgrade just for being an Ambassador.

Just got the Priority Club card. The offer was for 60k but sent a secure message to them and got it bumped to 80k.
Just FYI…The 80k points bonus is still available as of 23 February. Do you know how soon I can expect the bonus in my PC account after spending $1,000? Thank you always.

Emily: the bonus points will post at the closing date of the statement cycle in which you completed the spending requirement.

Ok, I’m sorry if this is already been asked, I read through most of the comments but didn’t see it…I have the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card (and love it!) If I get the Priority Club Visa, will I be able to transfer those points to Ultimate Rewards Points? and if so, does anyone know the ratio? Also, is there anyway to still get the 80,000 points rather than the 60,000 points they are advertising now? Thanks for your time!
KatB – No worries! You can’t transfer points from the Priority Club card to the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, though there are other cards like the Chase Ink Bold and Ink Plus which earn Ultimate Rewards points.
Just to let everyone know. I applied through the link on this page and got approved for the 80K points offer

This is an awesome card! Good info MMS! I was wondering how hard/easy it is to book using the certificate and points or cash. I.e. book 1 night using the annual cert and then book 3 nights using points or cash for 4 consecutive days total. Any experiences?
@Kaziopeia – Thanks for confirming that it still works.
@SuperKirby – You can use the certificate online, and if there is availability, you can book the other rooms using cash or points separately and then ask the hotel to combine the reservation.
Thanks! Question for Travelocity booking: I was wondering if I still earn Priority Club pts (10 pts/$1 spent) as long as I show my PC loyalty card at check-in if booked through Travelocity? Also, will my 50% pts for PLAT status be added on as well? How about upgrades? Will all of that be nulled if I book PC stays through Ultimare Rewards or Travelocity travel site? TIA
@SuperKirby – You earn the bonus points and the 50% bonus only for stays booked directly from Priority Club. You also wouldn’t get any elite benefits for booking outside of Priority Club, though a lower price could make up for that!
