Marriott has a neat little Facebook game where you answer a few questions and it tell you what type of traveler you are and enters you for a chance to win some great prizes.

Marriott has also very generously offered Million Mile Secrets readers a chance to win 50,000 points!  And, no, you won’t be getting a 1099-MISC form for the value of the points.

Here are the prizes which are up for grabs through the Marriott Facebook game.  Marriott is also providing a cash allowance to help pay for taxes on the prize or to be used for spending money on your trip!  And here’s a link to the terms and conditions of the game.

The Discoverer  (Approximate Retail Value =$12,375)

  • 7 nights stay for 2 at hotels in one of the following locations – Europe (Barcelona & Paris), Caribbean (Puerto Rico & Miami) or U.S. (New Orleans & Chicago)
  • 500,000 points to convert to airline miles for airfare
  • $3,000 in cash

The Family Traveler (Approximate Retail Value = $13,450)

  • 10 rooms for 3 nights at any Residence Inn in the U.S.
  • $500 gas card
  • $300 gift card to stock your room fridge

The Individualist  (Approximate Retail Value = $10,525)

  • 5 night stay at El Monte Sagrado, Taos, NM for 2
  • 500,000 Rewards points to convert to airline miles for airfare
  • $2,500 in cash

The Luxury Lover  (Approximate Retail Value = $12,100)

  • 5 night stay at any JW Marriott worldwide for 2
  • 500,000 Rewards points to convert to airline miles to use for airfare
  • Daily spa treatments of $100 per day
  • $2,500 in cash

Urban Explorer  (Approximate Retail Value = $10, 550)

  • 4 night stay in Madrid for 2
  • 2 night stay in Toledo for 2
  • Two round-trip train tickets from Madrid to Toledo
  • 500,000 Reward points to convert to airline miles for airfare
  • $2,500 in cash

Weekend Wanderer (Approximate Retail Value = $5,000)

  • Five 2 night weekend stays at any Courtyard in the U.S. or Canada for 2
  • $500 gas card
  • $2,500 in cash

I played the game and my “travel type” was the Weekend Wanderer, which is pretty accurate since I’ve been traveling for ~8 of the last 11 weekends.  Though I’d choose the Urban Explorer package from the choices above because I’d love to go back to Madrid and Toledo!

How To Enter The Million Mile Secrets 50,000 Point Giveaway

50,000 Marriott points are more than enough for 1 night at a top category 8 Marriott hotel, and you’ll have 10,000 points left over.  Or you can redeem for many nights at a category 1 hotel which costs only 7,500 points.

You can also redeem Marriott points for stays at the Ritz Carlton, and 50,000 points will get you 1 night at a tier 3 Ritz Carlton hotel.

Or you can transfer them to airline miles.

Here’s what you have to do to enter the Million Mile Secrets 50,000 point giveaway.

1.   Play the Marriott Facebook game “What’s Your Travel Type?”

2.  Leave ONE comment on this blog post about either what your personal travel type is (Discover, Family Traveler, Individualist, Luxury Lover, Urban Explorer, or Weekend Wanderer) or which package you’d like to win!

    Hey D.
    question – I have earned 125K american express points and 100K AA points this year. I plan to cancel the cards before it hits the time for paying annual fees do I have to use up the points before I cancel the cards? AA says that that the points expire in Mar 2013 which is our renewal date.
    Now is this the case in all credit cards that we have to use up the points before cancelling?
    If we transfer the points before cancelling, will they take away the points after we cancel from the transfer account?
