Link: 500 Free Hawaiian Airline Miles
Elina (thanks!) writes in to tell us about an easy 500 Hawaiian Airlines miles by linking your Twitter account to your Hawaiian Airlines account.
The promotion reads “Simply connect your Twitter and HawaiianMiles accounts below and receive 500 Hawaiianmiles — our way of saying Mahalo.”
I connected my Twitter account to my HawaiianMiles account and am waiting for my miles!
500 miles Hawaiian Airline miles may not seem like a lot, but Hawaiian Airlines is the only airline which lets you credit miles earned from shopping at Amazon.com. If you shop at Amazon.com, you might as well collect the miles for free (1 mile per $1 spent).
You can transfer Hawaiian miles to Hilton hotel points in increments of 5,000 at a 1:2 ratio so every mile counts if you’re trying to get to 5,000 miles!

I have earned and redeemed millions of airline miles and hotel points to travel the world for free.   Now I'm blogging to help more people do the same!

Looks like earning rate has changed because once you click on the amazon logo, it shows 0.5 mile/dollar.
Just applied for the two Hawn Air cards. Every little bit helps! Thank you.

Thanks for the tip. This seems like a good enough excuse to open an Hawaii air account.
@Rajnish – It still shows 1 mile per $1 for me when I click through, but I’ve had other readers write in to say that the earning rate was reduced.
@alohastephen – Sounds good! Are you going to transfer the points to Hilton?
@Vinay – I agree – and especially if you shop at Amazon.com it makes sense to collect the miles!

I did this about 4-5 months ago when they first announced it & nothing for me yet. Just a bunch of tweets that someday they’ll follow thru w the miles.
when i connected my hawaiian account to twitter it came through right away. this was back in nov.
Same here, Cindy. Did this awhile back and have yet to receive any miles.
@Cindy & Brian – Very interesting, especially since I couldn’t find any terms and conditions which indicated when the miles would post.
@oneeyejack – Nice to know and thanks for sharing! I hope my miles post soon too.
RE: Amazon 1 mile / 0.5 mile per $1
That’s interesting. The earning rate did drop to half a mile sometime in October for both HA and US (before US dumped FreeCause). My HA earning has been half a mile for recent purchases I made via the HA link. I click through now and same as Daraius, I see 1 mile per $1. Now I need to buy something to see what happens.
I signed up for this in September and my mile were credited recently, so it might take a while. @ ArizonaGuy, a while ago I also saw 0.5 miles/$1, but I’m now seeing 1 mile/$1. Strange. I suggest keeping screenshots when you purchase something. On occasion, I didn’t receive credit for purchases but it was rectified after I showed proof of purchase w/ a screenshot.
I did this a month and a half ago and have seen no points yet, but prior to this, starting in September, I played Southwest Airlines Chief Reward Officer Promotion and still haven’t seen any points from them either.
Has anyone seen these points post to their account yet, and did these points count towards companion pass qualification?
Hi Ethan,
Is it true with the Southwest card that if you apply for both the business and the regular visa that the 100k points qualifies you for having a free companion for a year? I already signed up for mine last month but my boyfriend is considering signing up for both to see if its true.
I got my miles once i signed up…did all of you who didn’t get the miles twitter HA twitter account? they are pretty active overall in social media..next time I see them in person i’ll ask the status of this stuff…
@ArizonaGuy – I’ve made some purchases recently so I’ll see what happens. I wonder if they are testing 0.5 miles per $1 on some user to gauge the response? Or could the 1 mile per $1 be only for Hawaiian Airline credit card holders? I don’t know for sure, but just speculating! Thanks for the update!
@Ariana - Thanks for sharing. Looks like it took 3 months to get your miles. Very strange with the earning rate at Amazon.com – I’ll check my account to see the actual earnings which posted.
@scooter – The Southwest points haven’t posted for me as yet.
@sarah – Your comment got posted in a different thread, but as of last week (when my business card bonus hit my account) both the personal and business credit card sign-up bonus counted towards the companion pass status. Your BF may need to call the Chase reconsideration line to get approved if he applies for both the business and personal card.
@Bitachu – Thanks for sharing. I’ll check to see when my miles post.
can this type of mile act be transferred to hilton-isnt it only miles act flown
I’ve been making small purchases at Amazon through the portal over the last month and they have been posting at 1 mile per $ up to a few weeks ago, hope it’s still going at the rate for everyone …
@adamu – I was able to transfer miles earned from the Hawaiian Airline credit card to Hilton. I believe the restriction applies to miles transferred in from third parties (AMEX Membership Rewards).
@Steelsnow – Thanks for sharing. I hope it is 1 miles $1 too!
The “30 Million Point Giveaway” points should post by 1/8/12. The rules said they would post 6-8 weeks after it ended (around 11/13/11).
On 12/6/11, HawaiianMiles tweeted:
“Welcome new followers! We’re working on getting everyone’s miles into their accounts so we appreciate your patience. Aloha!”
My miles posted yesterday and i got 0.5 miles/dollar
My Miles posted too
